For anyone who had difficulty with your vendors, did you ...
have any trouble getting money back?
Our bus was a major disaster ... we contacted the limo comp. but I'm not sure how easy this process is going to be. I'm curious to find out what others' experiences have been in this situation?

I only had problems with one vendor and I didnt even ask for my money back b/c I know it would have been a waste of breath. They (my florist) were trouble so I seriously doubt they would give me a red cent back after they already had my $$$. So I just let it go (aside from telling prospective clients what a terrible time I had with them).

I wouldnt waste your time either. Just make sure that your friends and family that are getting married stay clear away from that vendor. My DH has alot of friends at work who are planning weddings or planning on getting engaged. They have already asked us for recommendations of who to go to and we will recommend the vendors we were very happy with.

I sent a certified letter to one vendor outlining what was good and what I had serious problems with. he responded right away and we are waiting to discuss further details...money didn't seem to be an option for him so that is why I am waiting...but he is open to discussing frree things in the future...I would rather not go into real detail b/c he is so far handling it professionally.....

Mickey- I am so glad that your vendor is hearing your unhappiness. I have recently vocalized something I was unhappy with to a vendor and I got personally attacked by them saying everything was fine and it was just me on top of other nastiness they threw at me about my wedding. No matter who you hire for something, whether it is for you wedding or for anything, when you get that kind of customer service over even a slight disatisfaction, it really is unprofessional.

Before my wedding I had major trouble with my 1st chose limo company and they gave me a full refund- I was screaming for 3 days about them NOT having the bridal car and waiting till the last minute to inform me. I literally switched limo companies 4 days before my wedding. I would make sure the company knew I was not happy and if they didn't offer any compensation I would make sure every single bride knows about it.

We've gotten in contact with them, and we're trying to work out a fair deal. I know the owner of the limo comp. feels badly about it, but she doesn't own the bus. I feel that the bus driver failed to live up to his part of the contract, therefore we are entitled to some of that money back.
Here's the deal: the bus was supposed to meet Vinnie & his family at the WYNDHAM hotel in Hauppaugue at 2pm. The limo showed up for the guys, but no bus. They found out that the bus was at the MARRIOT ! They didn't leave the hotel until 2:30 and didn't get to the church until 2:55. Meanwhile the ceremony was supposed to start at 3 & the limo still had to come to my mom's and get the girls!
We didn't start the ceremony until almost 3:30, which meant that I didn't have much of a receiving line AND wasn't able to take any pics with my students who came to the church! The bus didn't make it back to the hotel until almost 5:30, then waited for people until 6:20 (He was supposed to start back to the Hamlet by 6:00 & make a second run at 6:20) We only had the bus contracted until 7:15, so he decided that he wasn't going back to hotel for the second run b/c his time was up! Our guests were left stranded at the hotel & had to arrange their own transportation. If I had wanted that, then I never would have paid for a bus in the first place!!!
All in all, I feel that we deserve our money back for the afternoon hours ... if he had been in the right place at the right time, then none of this would have happened!!!

Christine: We also had some troubles with a limo,it broke down during the pics. we took at the arboretum, so all it did was take the guys there (maybe a 20 minute ride from our house). We had to pack them into all available spaces in other cars and were 30 minutes late starting the cermomy, so cocktail hour was extended to accomadate that, BUT the reception still ended at midnight, so we lost almost 20-25 minutes of reception time. They did send a car to accomadate us at the end as arranged and YES I DID GET ALL MY MONEY BACK FOR THAT VEHICAL!!! I really wasn't willing to settle for less, because it was us who was so late!! Good luck, go for the gusto & ask for all of it!!

We also had some major problems that I can't even get into again w/our hall(Jericho Terrace.) I agree w/Cindy, unless you feel like getting personally attacked and called a liar about things that occured at your wedding, I would say forget it. These people know exactly how to take your $$ and they'll sweet talk you all you want before the event, but God forbid if you're not satisfied or feel you didn't get what you paid for.....evilness sets in and they don't want to know you from Adam!! Just spread the word on how you were treated. That's what we did, and believe me....we made sure to spread it far and wide!!!! It helps when you work in TV and EVERYONE wants to hear the details of your wedding!! Oh we told the details alright! Good luck!

Sha11209 - You said it well for me. I am not the type to speak up about a gripe I have, but when it came to my wedding and all the money we were spending, I felt I have a right to vocalize a dissatisfaction. To get nothing but a nasty response and angry nasty words is kind of sickening when you know how much you spent on this service. This is your wedding and for any vendor to not care about a client walking away unhappy is very sad!

They should care b/c word of mouth can help and it can hurt

I agree with Shamma! The wedding industry, as do most, must depend on word of mouth and satisfied customers. I generally assume most companies can get the job done, but you want it done with as little stress and BS as possible.
I relied on this board for many referrals since ones that are provided by the vendor are of course going to be extremely satisfied customers.

Stef--- As a result of your posts about Spitz and Peck, I did not even go to them! They lost so much business from that---- I was going to spend a decent amount on flowers, my sisters weddings business, three of my bms are getting married- their flower business... Wanted to let you know...

Update,
Last night Vinnie spoke to the owner again & she promised us that she would get our $$$ back for the bus in the afternoon ... approx. 5 hours! She told Vinnie that she'd put it in writing & get it to us ASAP.
Hopefully it goes well from here.

I am glad to hear that! I'm sorry that you had the problems in the first place, but at least this is something.

Sorry you had that problem. Like the other post, when I saw something negative about a vendor I did stay clear from them. Alot of our friends who are getting married next year are already asking for our opinions on certain vendors.

Cindy ... that's smart! For us, we'd booked all of our vendors when I started posting, so I couldn't use any of the referrals. There was no neg. info on this bus company on the boards & the limo comp. had a great reputation & credit rating. In her defense, it was the bus comp. not her limos that we had the trouble with. Everything else was fine!

Re: For anyone who had difficulty with your vendors, did you ...
I dont post much on this board but had to respond to this.
I cant tell you how many times ive read on this board brides telling their bad experiences with vendors and then their are invariably other brides using those vendors defending them blah blah blah
my point is that and i know it's cynical
it seems imho that customer services has gone down the tubes in many aspects in our country and specifically in the wedding business
these vendors arent clueless they know if you dont book them for your wedding some other bride will see their ad and book them
sorry for coming across kinda negative but upwards of influencing your own circle of acquaintances
seems like the vendors always have the upper hand and could care less about our complaints
and we all know the prices are outrageous for what they actually are doing - you can get an 8x10 blow up of a pic for example from a professional photo store for about 5 bucks but your wedding photograper will charge an extra 30-50 dollars to include that same pic in your wedding album
and this price gouging will never change b/c brides will always be willing to break out their bank accounts for the most imp. day of their lives

Re: For anyone who had difficulty with your vendors, did you ...
I'm with you ... it's incredible when we realized how much $$$ we were spending on a decent, not so lavish wedding. Is it me, or are these local problems, specific to our area? It seems that once you out of the LI/NYC area, things are very diff. Even in NJ it doesn't seem to be as bad re vendors costs & service.
BTW - why is it that there are so many limo comp w/ bad reputations ... even bad credit ratings ... We checked those carefully!! that are still in business.
It seems that the only vehice we have are these boards & word of mouth.
