For Emotional Brides

For Emotional Brides

I gotta ask you guys - how did you stop from bawling during the ceremony? I am a crier, I'll admit it - I always cry at weddings, sad movies etc. This, and the fact that my dad passed away 3 1/2 years ago and won't be walking me down the aisle is making me think I am going to be a BASKETCASE at the wedding. What to do??? Oh, and I also get 'stage fright' when speaking in front of large groups...please help!!!!

Re: For Emotional Brides

they say its the brides who usually aren't emotional that get choked up at their weddings.

That didn't hold true for me though - I cry at the TV during commercials, and I DID get a little teary at the wedding. Not crying, but choked up.

As for public speaking, I hate it as well. But it didn't feel like public speaking. It was just speaking to your husband. I didn't even know the others were there.

Don't stress. So what if you cry?

Human emotions can be unpredictable - but that is what makes them so genuine and beautiful. Like Lisa said, so what if you cry?? Just be true to what's in your heart, and everything else will flow...tears or no tears, you heart will be full of love and joy and that is what's most important.

I too, am an emotional person - cry at commercials, movies, even books! But, I only got choked up during my vows. I cried during the reception - a little teary during our first dance, and then bawled my eyes out when I dance with my dad and mom.

jenny ... I am also one of those constant criers. I was sooo woried about crying during the ceremony! I even cried at pre-cana talking about crying at the ceremony!

Meanwhile ... come the day of ... FINE! No tears at all. (well, a few, but nothing overwhelming) even when my dad came in the room to see me ( a verrrrry emotional moment ...) I held it together. And walking down? A smile so wide, people were saying that I looked radiant! I just felt good. I got the tears overwith ... ALL YEAR, mind you ... and I was good to go!

But it's true. If you cry, so what? you'll get it under control ... the moment is so special that it's you & him regardless of whether you're crying or not!!!
PS ... Maybe it's him you'll have to worry about!

Re: For Emotional Brides

I always thought I would cry but that day I was calm and cool. I was just soooooo happy. I was also concentrating on what I was supposed to repeat from the priest. He had such a thick accent, sometimes I don't know what he's saying.

I am emotional and I didn't cry during my ceremony. Everyone was shocked. Just be yourself and whether you cry or not, it will be okay.

I never thought I would cry, but I bawled, and I do mean bawled. It started when the soloist started singing, the emotions just got the better of me Throughout the day it continued too, during my MOH speeh, during my soror serenade to me, during my presentation to my mother. IT is such a happy day that sometimes tears just take over. Enjoy every minute

I am a real sap too and was so afraid I would cry. I only had a few breaks of the voice saying my vows but absolutely NO tears the whole night, I was shocked!!! You will be fine. The excitement will keep you from crying!

I cry at weddings too. There was no way I thought Iwould get through it without crying, but as soon as I was to walk down the isle it started a little and I just smiled and I was able to hold my tears. I think I was so nervous that I was able to hold back the tears(dont know if that makes sense.)

Re: For Emotional Brides

I'm very over-emotional and I was afraid I was going to break out in tears. Instead I totally FREAKED out when I heard the music start. I thought I was going to drop some nuggets right then and there. You can see me in the video FREAKING out in the back of the church. I near passed out on the way down the isle and I was shaking so much, my father had a hard time holding my arm. The best way I can describe my wedding day was that I felt someone put a blindfold on me and shoved me around (sort of like Pin the Tail on the Donkey). You get your bearings for about a second and then the blindfold goes on and your shoved someplace else. It was a complete blur. Throughout my video, I have this blank stare with this HUGE smile on my face, because that's all I could think of - my sister telling me to smile even when I was on the toilet because you didn't know who was taking a picture of you. How right she was because during the Mother/Son dance, my wicked SIL took a picture of me from a distance with the table camera (to see what my expression was and all that was there was that dumb smile instead of how I really felt. Of course she also got a very nice shot of MIL's face when we were dancing alone (DH/Me) so I guess that theory rings true. She had on this look like I shot her dog!

Re: For Emotional Brides

I am usually very emotional as well. I cry during commercials, even stupid movies and stuff.

Day of wedding. I was fine. I wasn't nervous or anything.....I couln't believe it. I shed a few tears at the end of the ceremony but that's it.

You never know but even if you do, there happy tears so who cares.

Ditto to most of the responses above. I usually cry at everything - and at everyone else's weddings. My wedding - only one tear during a quiet part of the ceremony while I was taking it all in.

As for public speaking, I really didn't realize other people were there - it did feel like just a moment between me and DH. You forget about the people when you can't see them.

Re: For Emotional Brides

I guess you are all right - so what if I bawl my eyes out?? I'm remembering back to a ceremony we were at this past April and the bride was VERY choked up and had a hard time getting through her vows and we all (all the girls that is) just started crying along with her b/c we thought it was so touching!

BTW, Shamee, you had me laughing out loud!!!!

Thanks ladies - and hopefully I'll forget everyone else is there.

Jennyg,

You asked the question that I keep thinking about. I am very emotional and feel that I am going to be bawling at my wedding. Sometimes now when I think about the big day, I get teary eyed.

Re: For Emotional Brides

I cry at the drop of a hat, at dog food commercials even, it's bad. the day of my ceremony, I was nothing but smiles from ear to ear, it was so weird! So, I agree that maybe you won't have as big a dilemma as you think!
