did you consult with your dr first or did you just get off of it?

i just went off and I am just doing it on my own not talking to the dr.

(i am not going off to have a baby though...)

and besides feeling better...

my cycle is non existant at the moment! i think its been almost 2 months and nothing! not pregnant, but im just not working right! i know it takes a while to get back to normal, but i was soo regular before getting on the pill! and DH and i wanna start trying in the near-ish kinda future, and i would like to have an idea of my cycle so it can work!

i went off it on my own, and it was the best thing i ever did. i have been off it for like 2 years now and WOW what a difference in my life...w/ mood-ness!

Consulted my doctor every step of the way. Especially since I went on it in the first place because of PCOS -- I made sure the doc knew and we set up a few separate sonograms to make sure the cysts didn't come back. After the first year, I was still clear (but barely got my period at all -- I think 4 times the first year off) and then I did end up with a cyst but it cleared up on its own within 3 months.

I'm definitely not the kind of person who just does things without consulting a doctor first. I was on the pill for 11 years so it was a big deal to go off. I kinda miss my doc in Brooklyn -- he was so great about answering all my questions and making me feel really comfortable talking about all my concerns and all.

Oh, and I definitely did NOT lose weight from finally going off the pill. It took 3 years of working out 3 days a week with a trainer and 4 days a week on my own to lose 45 lbs. I don't think any of the weight came off from going off the pill. (And now I'm a huge fatty again...)

ETA that I was only on the pill for 5 months, and I felt terrible each month. I tried three pills but never felt any better. I had horrible headaches and high blood pressure and zero libido. Plus I was a crying mess all the time.
