For those that did not LTBM...

For those that did not LTBM...

Did you feel there was a big adjustment period to get through when you first moved in with your new DH? With alot of bickering, etc? I hear alot of people say this but we really did not experience that.

We were just discussing this the other day... We didn't live together before marriage and it has been such an easy adjustment for us...granted we dated 7 years before getting engaged but it has been wonderful!

YES - it seemed like all we did was argue for the first few months. All due to fluccuating work schedules, moving to a new place, paying our bills, me changing jobs, DH being away from parents for the first time. We had some big arguements over pretty silly things. I wonder what our downstairs neighbor thought.
Now it seems like we are finally settled and in a 'happy place' with each other. I am so relieved!! I really think it just takes time.

YEAH!! i posted about this last week...we totally have needed to get adjusted to one another and living with each other. we were two very independent people now living together and developing our own lifestyle together...we are STILL having the 'bumps in the road'. i cant wait for this phase to be over!!!

we've had a few arguements, but really not that many. Mostly over rinsing dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. He doesn't like too... i don't like having little bits of crap on my plates and glasses.

Yes, but we had unusual circumstances...we moved to a new area of the country soon after our wedding, where I didn't have a job or any friends...and for a week or two, no furniture either (we still don't have a ton, but enough to get by). It was a HIGHLY stressfull period for both of us, so yes, we were both a little testy. Don't they say, moving, changing jobs and getting married are 3 of the most stressful things in life? And we did them all at the same time!

It was a difficult adjustment the first few months. My MIL did everything in her house (shopping, laundry, cleaning), but did not work full time. Actually, my mother did everything in the house too, while working full time, but I don't want to have to! LOL DH seemed to expect I would do everything while working full time, going to school full time, and making the same as he did. It was hard to figure out how we would divide chores...I resented grocery shopping alone, so we figured out a time when we could go together...I do laundry, he pays the bills...It just took a while to get into a routine. Plus, our single friends took a while to get adjusted to us being married. His single friends still wanted him to go out all the time. He still sees them, but it is different. I'd say after 3 or 4 months it was smooth sailing.

well, I put myself in this category, but really we had a last minute change in plans & DH moved in 3 months before the wedding.

We didn't really have realationship adjustments, b/c it wasn't a drastic change.
Over the years, we merged our lives a little at a time, even though we weren't sleeping in teh same apartment. He would come over almsot every day, we shopped & cooked together.

The biggest adjsutment was merging our stuff & me getting used to not cleaning the bedroom on Saturday mornings, b/c DH is still sleeping. (still working on that one. . .)
