for those who got married in the rain

what was your photographer like? mine ran away after taking hardly any pics after the church, with his jacket over his head like he would melt, even though he had an assistant to hold an umbrella. I had gone through the trouble of having DH's volunteer FD bring a fire truck down, and he wouldn't even take a picture of us in front of it? Just wanted to know if others had a better experience...thanks!

I feel lucky that I had a nice wedding day - but what you described is terrible. I would expect my photographer to do the same job no matter what the weather, within reason of course. You should not have less proofs because it rained - did he take additional shots indoors, what about inside the church? Rain is really not that big a deal, if you were willing to go out in the rain and if he had an assistant he should have got the shots you wanted outside the church. Have you spoken with him since the wedding?

My photographer took pictures of all the bridesmaides getting out of the car and also of me getting out of the car. Then after the ceremony since we couldnt do any outside shots, we got a picture of the bridal party waiting for us to come up the stairs of the church. I was suprised that he took them.

JP: From what you have posted, your photographer is a real jerk! Im so sorry you had to deal with that on your wedding day and that you dont love your photos. Every bride has the right to relive her day with her photographs and it seems your photos just bring back bad memories.

I had good weather but I would be my life that my photographers would have gotten wet if it were raining to get some good shots. That is what you are paying them for - rain or shine!

We got married in the rain as well and I wonder if our photogs were evil twins. I WAS NOT happy at all with him. I had booked him before I discovered LI Weddings

Both our photographer and videographer were great - going out on the lawn to take pictures of us on the covered porch, in front of the church etc.

A friend of mine was unhappy with her photographer but found that there were tons of great pictures taken by her family and friends. She used a lot of shots from them in her album. Im sure you will start to see a lot of great shots from your family and friends too.

Deb...I feel bad for you about your photog. It was bad enough that it was raining on your wedding day but to also have your photog not be around is just wrong. My photog went outside for me and I think would have stayed outside (it was only misting on that Sunday though) but she was worried about my dress and our hair and that the ground was soaked before my ceremony. I haven't gotten my proofs back yet so I am hoping I will be happy. I booked my photog also before I found this website, I would have had a harder decision in choosing a photographer after seeing some of the girls proofs on here if I hadn't put down a deposit yet.

Re: for those who got married in the rain

Stacey and I got married on the same 'misty' day and my photographer (Doug from Ray O'Connor) probably would have stayed out in the pouring rain to get the perfect outside shot.

I think my photographer would have stayed out longer as well, but Michelle (his assistant) was concerned about my bridesmaids red dyed shoes staining my dress.

But, they had sheets wrapped around my dress and really tried hard, despite the weather, to give me the same perfect shots as another bride on a beautiful day. I haven't seen my proofs yet, but I really think they tried hard, even though it was raining.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with your photographer. Have they contacted you and apologized for any of their actions that day? Do they know that you've posted about them on LIW?
