For those with ceremony at reception hall...

and rehearsal only on day of wedding.... was it ok with doing the rehearsal a half hour before the ceremony, or do you suggest we have one on our own a day or so before?

(i'm sad that we can't have the whole rehearsal with rehearsal dinner thing now, plus it makes me a bit nervous not having one)

Re: For those with ceremony at reception hall...

We rehearsed right before the ceremony, and it was fine. Just write down all the people walking down, and have a list ready if theres any particular order that you want so that you dont have to think about it on your day. Thats something I didn't do, and wished I did. But the actual rehearsal is fine, it doesnt take much thought!

Re: For those with ceremony at reception hall...

We didn't have a rehearsal at all because we were running behind on time. We did line up and people were told where to stand and/or sit. Since we only had 6 people in the BP and no children, it worked out all fine. We also had a RD the night before.

I think having a rehearsal half-hour before the ceremony will be fine.

Re: For those with ceremony at reception hall...

We didn't have a rehearsal either...you don't need to...they just lined us up and we walked down the aisle...no problems at all...

We knew what to say at the ceremony (since we wrote the entire ceremony)

We did have a 'rehearsal' dinner...but that was just to hang out and have fun...I also introduced the people who were walking down with each other

Re: For those with ceremony at reception hall...

I didn't have a rehearsal either since our priest didn't think it was necessary BUT I wish I would have just to see how everyone would walk in and would be placed. Also, my ceremony was supposed to be outside and it was raining so we had to have it inside and when the priest asked me if I had an order to the bridal party, I didn't but I wish I would have seen the room set up because my brother was standing right on top of us and made it hard to see. I wish I would have had ther rehearsal so the priest could have identified family (he sort of rushed my Mom down the aisle) and seen how things would be. Partly my fault, partly the priest's fault, and partly the weather's fault since we had to have the wedding inside!

But we did have a RD at a restaurant with family and friends 2 nights before to give out gifts and be with everyone, that was a lot of fun!

Re: For those with ceremony at reception hall...

We didn't have a rehearsal either.
Our officiant gave us a run down on the processional & recessional that we could discuss with the BP. The catering manager gave us the run down again right before the ceremony.

Re: For those with ceremony at reception hall...

We did ours right before our ceremony and it was fine. As others have said, you should have planned the order of people walking up the aisle done beforehand so that when you do practice the officiant can just line up the people and go. If you plan to do anything special or a special formations then it's best to tell people beforehand.

Re: For those with ceremony at reception hall...

We had a rehearsal four days before the wedding. It was a lot of fun, actually. Then we went to the rehearsal dinner.

Re: For those with ceremony at reception hall...

At the RD, we kinda just discussed again who was walking in with who, what order, etc.
Reminded the flower girls of how to behave , and it was fine.
The Maitre'D Should be very helpful the day of and pretty much walk everyone through it.

You'll be fine!
