I had a small store credit, but I feel bad for those who had gift cards for a lot more. If they knew they were still in this much trouble, they shouldn't have still been issuing them. I think they should have to honor them...they already received payment for them, you know.

Re: Fortunoff
The other day (I think it was JennNicole) a NW posted that they accepted them (gc) online. Maybe try that to use your store credit?

Re: Fortunoff
As soon as I heard they were having issues, I went and used my credits.. I ended up buying the rest of my china bowls and then some candles and what not..
Its sad that they are basically screwing people over with the credits, but they are protected under the chapter 11 law...

Re: Fortunoff
were they still issuing the gift cards until this happened? or did they stop?
if they were still issuing them til that day, they should honor them, it's stealing from customers...

Re: Fortunoff
Yes, Jenn let me know that the other day too. I ordered something on-line yesterday and it went through...it accepted the credit. Hopefully, they won't turn around later and say it can't be applied. I was just posting this as an update. Personally, if I had any in much larger amounts, I would've used them right away like you Karen. They've been shaky for over a year.

UPDATE 2/19
after my order went through on the 17th on line. I didn't get a confirmation. after some days. I called them up today and they told the item I ordered was out of stock and that I was on their call list.
Now the webstite updated and there is NO option to purchase under g/c any longer

Re: Fortunoff
i think this just went into effect like today that you cant use the GC.
It S*CKS and really messed up for them to do it. Ive seen girls have been posting since last week and even before that, saying they went to fortunoff's and a couple of salespeople told them they might close around feb 17th so they knew it but they dont say anything to really let everyone know.
I had a bunch of issues with fortunoff's so not surprised by their customer service

Re: Fortunoff
I went about two weeks ago and used up a gift card that we had and while I was looking around I saw a couple registering which I thought was weird!! Why were they letting couples register when they knew it was more than likely they would file Chapter 11? I felt like I should tell them not to waste there time, but chose not too because I didn't know the full story. I also got an update on my Fortunoff statement that they were no longer accepting the card in stores. The whole situation is terrible!

Aw, Jenn, maybe you can try and call them since they accepted it when you originally placed your order.

See, now why are they even still offering bridal registry services?! When I registered, it had just come out about their problems, but there was also talk of Lord & Taylor buying them so I took a chance and still did it. I don't know, I'm surprised to even hear people are still registering there. But now, this is it. See, they're protected by Chapter 11, but I heard of another case (I just can't think of who it was) where it was worked out that they could honor their gift cards...I really feel that is how it should be.

Re: Fortunoff
What is really going to su ck is if any of the 09 girls are having their shower in the next few weeks and their guests purchased gift cards for them.
Because it is pretty much money wasted

Re: Fortunoff
Hi gals,
I posted a response on another thread about what current Fortunoff's giftcard holders can do. It's not much, but it's something if you want to stay proactive about the whole situation.
I feel so bad for registrants right now! saw it on the news and was just heartbroken for the brides. I registered there and had no customer service problems, and it was the only place we registered. I'd be so flippin pissed right now if i was dealing with this!
i'm totally puzzled how 1) they are letting people still register and 2) why would you even do that?

That's so not right!!!!
I keep reading about girls here who have these big credits (one girl's mom had several hundred dollars' worth of credit) and it's not fair to them or anyone

Re: Fortunoff
Yup went with my SIL she had $200 credit and she couldnt use it
BUT
the sales woman said a lot is up in the air and there is a good chance they will get bought and reorganized so hang on to your store credits and GC's bc they may be honored at a later date HTH
