So.. I ordered new shades for the living room windows and asked DH to hang them up yesterday. I come home and within 5 seconds realize that they were on completely backwards. He spent all day in the house and didnt realize they were on wrong Then he couldn't figure out how to put them on correctly so I finally just did it myself. I was really annoyed because he didn't take the 10 seconds to read the directions and do it the correct way! He made me laugh though, he was like 'oh i didnt even think this would come with directions!?' haha
Does your DH do the 'typical' male things? (doesn't read the directions, doesn't stop for directions, hogs the remote control)
Mine does everything except he lets me hog the remote

Other than having an unusual talent for dutch ovens , no, not really. He cooks, I hog the remote, he never asks for directions because he never gets lost, he's the one who is always picking up after me, etc.

DH is a typical male! He doesn't like to ask for directions and doesn't believe me when I say he's going the wrong way (I've learned to let him just continue to go in the wrong way, and smile sweetly when he realizes and gets all pissy), he hogs the remote, the computer, he doesn't clean up after himself, he doesn't do anything until I ask him to do it 5 times, and he takes FOREVER in the bathroom. He does like to cook, but only if it's his specialties...today is his alternate Friday off and he had to bring his car to the shop for an oil change, so he is using mine for the day, so I gave him the grocery list which consists of 4 items...so let's see if they get bought!

but he will not ask for directions!!! he will make me do it!
if we are in a store looking for something i will always be like can we ask someone where it is? and hes like noo we can find it, but then when we dont find it hes like 'ok go ask someone' he will never do it! it doesnt bother me really cuz i wanted to ask someone from the start! lol

No DH would never put something up wrong. He usually could write the directions, but he's an engineer.
He doesn't hog the remote, but he barely ever gets to sit down and watch TV so usually when he does I let him watch what he wants.
Stopping for directions though... yeah I don't think he would. He will use the GPS though, but he has a Tom Tom I think it gets us more lost then he would.

My DH reads directions but just because he's a perfectionist (and also an engineer) and likes to make sure things are done right. He will also criticize directions if they're poor.
He doesn't like to ask for help for things in general -- he mostly just figures everything out himself. He has his iphone for directions and he'll use it before ever asking someone for directions. I think he just thinks people don't always know the best solution.
DH *hates* shopping!!! I've quite enjoyed doing all the shopping since we got married. He doesn't like to do the dishes, but he'll help cook sometimes and he'll clear the table. He takes out the trash and vacuums and I do the rest of the chores around the house. So far it's working.
One way he's a little atypical is he doesn't like sports at all. I'm the one you find in front of the tv screaming at the relief pitchers... It's like pulling teeth to drag him to baseball games all summer (he goes because (1) he loves me and (2) he can take photos there). We make it work.
Great question!

My DH doesn't really watch sports either. And he comes from a HUGE football family. Both his brothers played in college, Jon for a D1 school, but DH is not into it at all. He will watch the superbowl, Thanksgiving and New Years Day, thats really it. Baseball he only watches when I do. I am the baseball fan.
He doesn't really play sports either except golf, which he played in HS but only plays about twice a year now because he hates killing 6 hours of his day.

My DH will follow the put something together on his own up until he can't figure something out then he will refer to the directions.
He's never had to stop for directions while I am in the car but if he is trying to find a job for work he will mapquest it and if he gets lost he will call me and give me the cross streets of where he is and I will tell him how to get to where he needs to be.
He usually doesn't do anything around the house unless I ask him to...on the very rare occasion he will do something on his own merit.
He is a remote hog but if I don't like what he is watching then I'll just go in another room.
My DH is a HUGE sports fan. He watches every sport and all the teams. Since his favorite teams are Detroit teams he is usually stuck watching the NY Sports teams. But when one of his teams is on TV I will usually watch with him because I like to cheer with him unless of course it is the Tigers because I am a Yankees fan!

Hmm… well he def DOES NOT follow directions and I always get mad at him bc I’m anal and have to read directions to put things together step by step. I don’t think he’s ever asked for directions when we’re lost either.
But he does do the dishes and makes dinner every night, so I guess in some ways he’s ant-guy. Oh and we don’t really fight over the remote bc 99% of the time we’re watching shows that we have DVRed and we watch most of the same shows.
I’ve never gotten a dutch oven though… he’s never even farted in front of me! He does spend a ridiculous amount of time in the bathroom though.
