Friday QOTD

Friday QOTD

A little busy again today, so I'll make this brief...what time period in your life would you like to go back and do all over again, and why? How did it shape who you are?

For me, I'd want to go back to the summer just before Freshman year of college and relive the next year and a half...basically the entire Freshman year and most of first semester Sophomore year, to the end of October...just days before I met DH!

Back then, I obviously had less responsibilities, I didn't have the stress of work, I had more 'friends' that I went out with and had fun with, I met a lot of boys and had a lot of heartbreak...but since I met DH pretty young, at 19, this short time was really my only 'sowing my wild oats' days. And I'm clearly a wild one But it was a more carefree time, even though I thought the drama at my waitressing job and whether I was going to get another 4.0 that semester and whether a jerky d-bag guy was going to call me were life's biggest concerns. This whole stretch had a really big impact on the way I handled my relationship with DH and still do, and it reminds me that it's so important to just let everything go and live a little once in a while! I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss it a bit...so that's my time frame, what's yours?

I would redo college. I went to a great college (Boston College), tons of fun, amazing people, but don't think I lived the whole experience as I was held back by a pretty terrible boyfriend who really kept me from enjoying the experience.

Luckily, I went to law school and sort of was able to make up for a lot of that while in law school, and now have more closer friends from law school than I do from college. But I wish I enjoyed college more.

(I know this is deliberately vague but bear with me!)

I would like to redo 13 years of my life, if I'm being honest! I made a LOT of stupid decisions in my life and was a miserable person for the entirety of my pre-teen/teen years. It took a lot of work to get to where I am right now and to be healthy and happy and I would just love to go back in time and do it all the right way. I wasted a lot of time, a lot of LIFE, and I regret it every day.

However, despite all of that I'm really proud of myself and who I am today and think that despite everything, at the end of the day, I did a good job.

Hmmm...I think I would re-do my sophomore year of college. My father and I never had a relationship, and for some reason, I reached out to him my soph. year. It was so painful for the next couple of years to realize all over again just what a terrible person he is, so I would def. take that back.

I would re-do all of my 30's. It was honestly the most amazing decade ever!

I had finally reached a point in my career where I was making 'real' money. Something happened when I turned 30 where I just all of a sudden felt 'grown up' and confident in everything. I no longer cared about stupid boys or toxic people. I didn't care if I wasn't the skinniest girl or the prettiest girl - I realized I was ok the way I am - it was such a liberating feeling. I actually went on vacation alone for the first time.

I learned how to gracefully end a relationship. I was able to travel the world and have life experiences that I wouldn't trade for anything. I learned to be 100% independent.

The best part of the decade....I met DH when I was 37 (just about to turn 38) and for the first time in my life was able to have a completely supportive, honest, 50-50, no bullsh!t relationship.

i use to say that i would go back and redo my college years, because i always wanted to go away and i kinda did, but i didnt go as far or really experience college because and a loser boyfriend. i went to IONA and it was 30 mins away lived there for 2 years, had an amazing time, and met some amazing people, but i was constantly coming home for the weekends, not going out as much cuz my controlling boyfriend didnt want me to! and then i moved home my last 2 years!! I HATED MOVING BACK HOME! the only reason i did was because one of my roomtaes had a baby and quit school and the other one got really sick so she moved back home and the other one couldnt afford to live on her own. so i was stuck! but the good thing about it all and the reason i wouldnt go back and change that is cuz the year i moved home, i started hanging out with DH and his friends and umm yeah the rest is historY!!

if things were different maybe me and DH would never of gotten soo close, and maybe never got together! its just funny how things happend sooo ill take my life how its turned out!

altho i would go back and relive my wedding !!!

The only year I'd want to re-do was sophomore year of college... it was the only year of college that I lived at home so I was super bored, plus my bf at the time went to the Merchant Marine Academy and he was at sea for 6 months!

I moved back to campus my junior and senior years and had so much fun that I wish my sophomore year hadn't been wasted.

I honestly would not go back. I am really happy with who I am and where I am. I have had a pretty good life not without its ups and downs but overall I have been pretty lucky!

Honestly I know this sounds so cheesy but I would go back to when we were planning our wedding. It was so stressful but looking back I would do it all over again. We planned our wedding in about 5 months, and I really wish we had taken at least a year so I could have drawn it all out more. I love all the choices I made but think I would have liked more time to explore all the wedding world has to offer. Also I would love to relive my wedding & honeymoon it was amazing, but it all happened so fast. I know I am a big cheeseball today.

I wouldn't redo any part. I had a great college experience minus the 2 semesters I got a 1.2 and a 1.8 but had a lot of fun partying those semesters and did a lot of growing because of it and I still went to law school and graduated with decent grades so it wasn't all bad.

I achieved everything I have set out for myself....it might not have been in the time frame but I did it so I guess the time-line doesn't matter. I learned so much from the goods and bads that I wouldn't change the bads for anything.

I wouldnt re-do a thing! Everything in life happens for a reason & thats what makes you who you aretoday. I love me & who i am & what i stand for. So nope no going back only looking straight ahead!

Re: Friday QOTD

Maybe I should clarify...I meant go back to relive because it was a good time/you had fun/had a big impact on your future, not go back to redo!

Re: Friday QOTD

I agree with Vicki, I wouldn't necessarily want to go back-

BUT

I think my favorite year (besides all with DH) was when I was late 25 into 26. I was living in Forest Hills with my gay lawyer best friend (real life Will & Grace). I had gotten out of a 4 year relationship a few months prior. I got my first big work promotion and achieved a major career goal, making money, shopping for fabulous everything, and going out in NYC at least 3 nights a week to all the biggest hot spots.

At that point in my life, I finally figured out who I was and became really confident. It was the year I came into myself and I thrived.

And it absolutely shaped who I was and the woman I am now.
