Friday QOTD2

What makes you and DH 'work'. What things do you have in common that really compliment eachother?
Is there anything special the two of you do that probably no one else would understand, but it makes you both 'You' that you care to share?

DH and I donot believe in name calling and arguing. Not to say sometimes it happens, but one of us will always say 'Woah..lets stop and talk it out'

I feel that thats the reason why DH and I continue to be best friends... we will talk till we are blue in the face... sometimes to the point where I wish he was a 'normal' guy and just let it go. But I do think that that is the reason he and I have such an amazing relationship... if I am upset with something, we talk it out and vice versa. Alot of times we realize we are angry at something or someone completely aside from eachother and are taking it out on eachother instead...

So, embarassing but, I will share...

Any day that the weather is nice, DH and I put in 'The best of Jonny Cash' into the CD player and blast it while taking a short trip. We usually end up buying some picnic food, parking, and walking by the water to this one little spot in the middle of a field for a picnic. We did this the day before our wedding... just to get away, and it was the best memory... we just enjoyed eachothers company... which I think more people have to learn to do (I know I certainly did)

We also leave eachother little notes in the morning just like 'Thinking of you' and little quotes... its really makes a difference in our day :)

that's not embarrassing - that's so sweet!!

DH and i are very calm people. we like to enjoy things and not let petty things get in the way. if we have any kind of problem, we talk about it before its gets bigger than necessary. we are 100% honest with each other.

something special that we do... hmm i'll have to think... we do a lot of silly things haha

I swear people always say that you will marry someone like your dad, and altho that sounds kinda weird, it kinda true...

DH and my dad sorta have the same personality, like my dad is very funny and make me laugh, and DH does the same thing! his sense of humor is a huge part of why we work so well! because i can get annoyed and mad about the littlest thing and for like 5 mins it would be the worst thing in the world (told you i was dramatic) but DH ALWAYS makes me laugh that i cant even be mad any more!

we love alot of the same things and really enjoy doing stuff together. We do stuff like going to the circus, pumpkin picking, going for walk...etc. and we both enjoy doing things that would make the other person happy.

DH also knows how to do the littlest things to make me smile like for instance, yesterday when he picked me up there was icing he peeled off of a black and white cookie, that he saved for me! cuz he knows i love the icing and not the cookie!

We do argue from time to time, but with us it never lasts! we never can stay mad at each other, if its my fault, ill tell him im sorry we will talk about why we started fighing to begin with, if its his fault he usually starts to kiss my butt and make me laugh making it impossible to be mad, but we always talk out everything and make sure the same fight doesnt accur again!

THANK GOD I didn't marry someone like my dad ... because I would be miserable! My dad is an a-hole.



DH and I are pretty much the same person. I remember before we met and we were just emailing back and forth (we met online and met a week after the first email), I couldn't believe how similar we were. I mean, we share OBSCURE interests, like being obsessed with NYC history and MTA history, to the movie Hedwig and the Angry Inch, you name it. We work so well because our sense of humor is the same and we make each other laugh every day. We never lose sight of the fact that laughter is one of the most important components to us and our relationship, and even when we are 'fighting' we wind up laughing and making fun of each other in the middle of the fight.

(Case in point: We had the stupidest tiny argument on Valentine's Day, but we NEVER celebrate V Day. So in the middle of the argument he looks at me and says in the nastiest, most sarcastic tone, 'Happy Valentine's Day.' And I just BURST OUT LAUGHING because it was so ridiculous! Like he was mad that I was ruining Valentine's Day! We were in our pajamas eating a quick, easy dinner. We still laugh about it and randomly wish each other a happy Valentine's Day. )

First Jenny - I <3 all of your pictures for each QOTD! You are too cute!

DH & I are ying & yang. It's not what we have in common that makes us work - it's what we complete in each other. We are total opposites. I'm a goodie goodie, non adventurous type person...he on the other hand was the bad boy (although thats scaled down a heck of a lot since we've been together).

We have a mutual respect for one another. We know that neither of us could live without the other. He's my best friend & we can tell each other everything.


I dunno if theres anythng that we really do together that makes us us..its more like the glances, the nicknames, the inseparableness, lil actions and what not...

AWWW I love that!!!!

DH & I have great communication. No topic is off the chart & nothing holds us back from what we are truly feeling. I think thats waht makes us work. We respect each other our opinions & our relationship. We listen to each other & work on what needs to be worked on. We also have ALOT of fun together & that keeps it new & fresh & fabulous!

One thing DH & I always do is sing to each other & dance. When we cook we always have music & we will just stop & take a slow dance. Or sometimes we will be silly & start doing the running man or something outta nowhere. LOL its silly but its who we are. I wouldnt change us for a thing. We also always say goodnight & have kiss & good morning & have a kiss (sometimes more hehehehe) Im very blessed to have him in my life.

DH and I have so many things that make us work, but mostly its because we share the same principles that we live by.

We are both sober, and have been for four years. It meant a lot to me to be able to find someone that shared my way of life. It would be difficult to be with someone who didn't really get what it means to have to be sober. Out life together is amazing because we really 'get' each other in a way that no one else can.

Things we do have in common is that we are both homebodies...we love to stay home on Friday nights and watch movies together and order in. We don't need to be out partying to have a good time.

I think the most important part of our relationship that keeps us strong is that we NEVER go to bed angry with each other. In 5 and a half years together we have never been angry at each other for longer than maybe an hour and then we just let it go because we both know that nothing is that important to be angry about if we are in love and happy.

This is pretty much how it works for us as well. We have just enough in common to work, but our own interests as well. He's a fanatic about his car, whereas I think it's merely a way of getting from point A to point B. He's in to sports, but I only like hockey, which is enough for us, I'll go to the Islander games in a heart beat, and will go to the Mets if the tickets are free, but that's about where it ends. He plays guitar better and more often than me, we both like music although he is a hardcore DMB fan whereas I can only tolerate them, and he calls my music 'shiz'. I read for pleasure, and I highly doubt DH has ever read a novel in his life if it wasn't assigned in HS english. He is a photographer, and I can't be bothered with even having my own camera. But we both like to cook, and enjoy good food, good wine, taking walks in parks or going to beaches, but most of all just relaxing at home and watching a movie or Food network. We also have the same sense of humor, and can get a little nasty. We butt heads A LOT, because we're both stubborn, think we're always the right one in the argument, and we both think we're smarter than each other and more cultured (even though I really am ), and because of our major differences in family background and religion. It's a challenge, but we make it work. It'd be boring if we always got along. I say I'll always love you, but sometimes I really don't like you

dh and i work i think caue well we have known each othr ince we r 12 and know everything about each other..no secrets whatsoever

also i helps that we r very much alike..both sports nuts and both goofy.all we do is laugh together and what i love the most about him is that can be myself..the klutz,the girl wo cant eat with out spiling on herself,pony tail no makeup sweatpants wearing rather be in the dirt than shopping girl and he loves me for me..

something that we do that would make people think we r nuts is we have a handhske..yes a 10 year old's handshake complete wth high fives and finger snaps..we do it all the time

Oh, and I forgot, one of our 'things' that people probably won't get is that I bite FH...usually on the arm or nose. It's weird. And if I'm annoyed at him, I'll bite harder

When I saw this video I nearly fell off my chair...
