Friend (BM) had her baby -- WWYD?

Friend (BM) had her baby -- WWYD?

So, friends of DH and I had their 2nd child yesterday, a healthy boy. When we heard the news via text we replied with our congrats and said to let us know when it would be a good time to visit. We didn't hear anything yesterday, which is understandable since I am sure the day of can be crazy, plus that should be family bonding time. This morning I contacted the DH/dad and he said mom and baby were sleeping and to try again later on. I don't want to sound like a nag constantly asking for the ok to visit. My friend did say she would love for me to stop by since the hospital is 5 mins. from me so it seemed like she wanted visitors, but this was a few days before the birth (a planned c-section).

So, my question is, should I just not visit until I hear back from them or should I visit anyway? I know her best friend was there yesterday, thanks to Facebook Wall posts. Maybe I should just wait until the whole family is home and situated? And if she asks why I didn't visit, be like 'well your husband told me not to'? Ugh, should I mention that they were both in our BP and we've only seen them once (Jan. 1) since our wedding 10 months ago? I gave them the benefit of the doubt since she got pregnant shortly after the wedding and they also have an almost 2 yr old so I assumed they were busy. DH told me to stop trying with them since I'd always get the run around.

I want to give them their family time but I am also very happy for them and have gifts for the baby and big brother.

I think you're thinking too much into it! Just go on over and visit. If she seems tired or just weirded out, don't stay long. At least you made the effort.

I would probably give them time to call back. I don't have kids, but I know my friends who do felt very overwhelmed by the amount of visitors they have for the first few days. I'm sure she'd love to see you soon though! congrats to your friend!

I'd just go, and be totally ok if they can't really spend any time with you because of exhaustion or whatnot.

You never forget the people who make the trip to see you in the hospital. It's really, really sweet you want to go!

BTW: if you really want to bring something, I totally recommend bringing a small basket of stuff like baby shampoo, baby lotion, baby oil, hand sanitizer, etc. -- just something a little different but can be totally useful.

Congrats to your friend! Let us know if you go & how it goes!

My friend got back to me. Her husband failed to tell me the baby is in NICU with some respiratory issues. She said tomorrow would be better but now I am going to just wait til they're all home and settled. Glad I didn't just show up. She can only have him for now only when she's nursing. I don't know anymore details. On the other hand, she's fine. Thanks for your input though. I just never know if a mom who just gave birth is really up to visitors or what the etiquette is.

Oh, btw, for those who might need a name suggestion, they named him Parker Kristian

Since she has a few kids it's understandable she's busy which is maybe why you havent seen her in so long. It's good you heard back from her. Hope the baby is doing better.
