Fun way to 'reuse' your wedding cards

DH and I have been faithful Cooking Light readers/suscribers for almost 5 yrs and this month's issue had the coolest tip. I figured we all have plenty of cards from our weddings and I, for one, have yet to get rid of them. When I read this tip, I immediately had to come on here and share it!

Reader Tip:

'When I was newly married, my husband and I received many beautiful engagement and wedding cards. I did not just want to pack them away, so I cut off the fronts of the cards and wrote the date received and who they were from on them. I then used them as recipe cards. After my children were born, I also used the many congratulatory cards we received for them. Now, after 30 years of marriage, whenever I take out a favorite recipe, I look at the front of the card and remember the many pleasant events of my life'

that's a really great idea!!! but I wouldn't be able to cut any cards w/ personal notes in them. I'm too nostalgic!!! but I have plenty that just say 'love so & so, w/ no message written, those I could live w/ cutting up. I'm still not ready to though! maybe when I have my first child I'll cut them up! (can u tell I have a hard time letting go??

thats a fantastic idea..I put all the cards we received in an album. One for wedding and one from engagement. Once in a while, I flip through it and read their sweet notes

I like that! We have them all in a box. Ima nostalgic loser lol so I saved them all. But most of them just say love so and so with no real message.

Thats a great idea, I have mine sitting bundled with all my wedding crap and didnt want to throw them out

That's a great idea!
I was thinking of cutting up the ones that don't have a personal message in them to use them as ornaments for the bottom of the tree this year. Not sure if this will work out, but I'll try.
