Furniture (Please Help)

I went to Thomasville last night and found a bedroom set that I love -
When I went home I looked up North Carolina Furniture - the web site is Furniture find - has anyone used them?
They carry the same set however, it is by a differrent Manufacter - Style Master???
I would save about $500.00 - Does anyone know anything about them? I'm not sure if it is worth the trouble???? If I new that I would get the set and it's not a scam - I would do it - $500.00 I could use for something else
Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Furniture (Please Help)

Junebride I used Furniture Fan for my dining room set which should be arriving in June from a dealer in South Carolina. I saved over $8000! But, it was exactly the same manufacturer. I'm not sure about why the manufacturer would be different. I would double check on that with the dealer. If you want, when I get home today I will pull out the info on the company I'm dealing with - they were great! I definitely recommend getting furniture NOT from NY - the mark up has got to be one of the biggest scams ever!

I haven't heard of the site you mentioned, but someone had previously recommended http://www.furniturelandsouth.com as being reputable. They have a very nice web site although you have to call for prices.

I was even considering flying down there when I'm ready to do some serious furniture shopping. The flights from McArthur airport in Islip were pretty cheap - about $100 RT last time I looked! Well worth it if you're planning to buy more than a few pieces.

I tried to get my Thomasville Wall Unit through the 'NC Connection' - no luck. I think Furnitureland South carries Thomasville but they would not take orders for them over the phone or via internet you had to visit the showroom if you wanted Thomasville.

I never heard of Style Master. Can the distributor direct you to a local showroom that carries some of their pieces so you can compare quality?

Re: Furniture (Please Help)

Just want to say thank you!
I am still searching for other options - I have gotten a few places to try and I will let everyone what I did and who I used.
Nothing is an easy decision -
I cannot beleive the prices of furniture - I had no idea how expensive a dining room set would be.
I went to Drexel Herritage and fell in love with one, however I would have to eat, sleep, watch TV, etc. on this set b/c that would be the only thing I could buy.
We have money put aside for furniture and I thought I was going to be able to buy 3 rooms - living, dining, and bedroom - but I now realize I can only buy two (it's difficult to know which room to sacrifice????)
Anyway just wanted to say thanks!
I still don't like this new way the website is.... I really miss the old way!

Just a FYI Furnitureland South carries Drexel, or at least they used to. I bought a Drexel piece through them and had not problem. Its not discounted as deeply as some other manufactures but a discount is a discount. Its worth a call.

NOt sure if this will help--my husband had wanted the bedroom first (I had Cheap IKEA furniture from my first apartment after college) and when we got married we bought him a cheap IKEA dresser--so after a few months he was sick of it so when we bought the house he said bedroom would be the first room-- we ended up doing the living room, my office and then the dining room--- 5 1/2 months later still no bedroom!! and at this point it wont happen for a while-- we just did a new patio and bought furniture for the deck-- we didnt really have a budget in mind (stupid I know) and have spent more than the recommended on each room but love the stuff we got and know that we will not be replacing it for quite some time--
A friend used this site for her whole house
http://www.rosefurniture.com/
they have been helpful to us but we have never purchased from them
Good luck

Re: Furniture (Please Help)

I purchased from NC, the site was
http://www.warehousediscountfurniture.com
The website is not that great, I called to get it all done. They dont have an 800# so hopefully you can call from work. They were great to work with. I worked with Mike and Jim. I saved about $1200 on a leather sectional by DOUGLAS. Gorgeous set, no problems at all.

Our bedroom is Thomasville and when we were shopping I emailed MANY NC places, and was told by several that A) Thomasville cannot/will not be found at outlets (so thats why youd be getting that other brand). and B) Those VERY few that did have Thomasville, you had to visit in person to buy one. So we purcashed it from the Thomasville showroom out here.

Another site I found useful was
http://www.ncfurnitureonline.com
This site shows all the outlets on one website.
I put my info on the message board, and was called by a few people. IF you dont mind giving your # out, that will save you time ! (i never got junk phone calls from it).

GOOD LUCK !
