Furniture shopping - recommendations?
I`m going to start looking for furniture this weekend. We`ll start on Rt 110 - any recommendations....where else to go....where to stay away from?
Thanks!
Anyone have a Natuzzi couch? How do they hold up?

Someone mentioned http://www.furniturelandsouth.com as a good source for saving a lot of money if you know the brand and model number of the pieces you want.
I looked into an excursion down to High Point, where they are located, along with several other furniture places. There were flights from Islip-McArthur Airport that were $98 and $118 Round Trip - hard to beat that if you are ready to furnish several rooms...
What can I say?? Any comments
I'm with Karen on this one.
If you dont mind waiting for delivery, North Carolina is the way to go.
Last year we saw a brown leather sectional by Douglas that we fell in love with at LEVITZ, we called NC places and saved $1200. (from 3600 we paid 2400). and that included like 500 in shipping charges. We waited about 8 weeks, but it was worth the wait !
The place I got it from is
http://www.warehousediscountfurniture.com
I also found that NC people are SOOO NICEEEE and customer service oriented, unlike some New York shops. (im a new yorker myself, so i hope no one took offense to that ! ;)
Another few websites are
http://www.ncfurnitureonline.com/
http://www.findfurniture.com/
What you CAN do is, do your 'window shopping' around here, bring a notepad and pen, try to get MANUFacturer, style, and what pieces you want, and what prices the are charging. Alot of stores will NOT post the MFR or style for this very reason, they know what we are up to. But you have every right to say that you will think about it, and want to write down what you looked at.
Just casually say 'Who makes this?' to get an accurate response, otherwise they can be vague with answers, especially on RT 110.
Good luck !
I know all the info about a dining room set - just curious how reputable some of these places are...I'm willing to do it to save some $.
I used Furnitureland South for my bedroom set and for a Drexel piece I have in my foyer. They were great. I think I used a credit card for the deposit and then paid the balance with a certified check on delivery. Saved a bundle!
