Furniture stores

any suggestions on places to buy furniture? we went up and down route 110 over the weekend and stopped in the following stores, but we didn't find anything we liked:

Raymour
Jennifer Convertibles
Ashley
Peter Andrews
Thomasville

We skipped The Place cause I heard bad things about it, but my DH said he wanted to go back and look.

We're looking for a dining room set and living room set.

Thanks!

Re: Furniture stores

Really?? My parents got furniture from the Place in the past and had no problems with it and we looked at couches there and I found what I wanted but then we had to use that money for something else. I would look there.

Re: Furniture stores

My friends flew to North Carolina to the furniture district, bought their furniture, rented a truck and drove back to NJ. They saved a ton of money and got beautiful and usually expensive furniture.

We got our dining room set from Bob's, as well as the coffee table and two end tables in our living room. I'm very happy with them.

My parents purchase a lot of their furniture at Macys. They are very happy. They usually always get some type on 0 interest payment plan too.

Re: Furniture stores

thanks! we'll probably check out macys, jcpenny and the place. our current dining room set and couches in our apt are from Bob's, so we wanted to buy the next step up for our new house.

I LOVE Ashley - it's what I always suggest whenever anyone asks. They were a pleasure to work with, we love our furniture and we didn't feel we paid too much for it.

We got our coffee table and end tables from Bob's just before the wedding (July), by December they had major chips in them. It's pretty and fine for a den but I will not be buying my bedroom furniture there.

Re: Furniture stores

We bought our bedroom set and living room set from Raymour, and had problems with just about every piece we bought. We purchased in November and no joke, just finished repairs and exchanges in April or May. Flipping unreal. And we got the solid wood pieces too, not composite and veneer.

My sister bought her living room set from The Place and had a lot of problems with it too. We went to so many furniture stores it was unreal. Bare Boards in Bohemia has a lot of solid wood pieces that are nice, and Classic Galleries in Farmingdale (not the one in Huntington, which is more antique type) has some nice pieces too. Ethan Allen was OK, but expensive, as was Thomasville. We didn't care for Bob's. The only furniture we didn't have issues with was our computer desk and TV stand from Ikea
