GARAGE SALE!!!

I am just SO excited..

We have been in our house since 1994 - when we moved in, we kind of took over for a friend of the family who was moved into a nursing home. Needless to say there was a lifetime full of stuff that included everything from furniture to ten million knick-knacks…chandeliers, shot glasses, pots, pans, silverware, purses, clothing…the list is actually endless. We stored it all in our garage since the day we moved in and weren't allowed to get rid of anything. The woman passed away about 2 years ago and since then we've been talking about 'going through the garage'. It's a big two car garage down there and when I tell you full..I cannot even express how packed. I lost my cat in there for three days…I had to leave her food at the door….

Well the wait is over!!! We registered for our garage sale we are having this coming weekend!!! I am so excited I can barely sleep! I went through all the small stuff over the weekend, pricing everything, unwrapping it all from newspaper, etc. I found a few (very few) treasures that I am insisting on keeping, and then spent Sunday looking on ebay making sure I wasn't going to see any of our items on Antiques Roadshow in a month for $150,000….On Saturday a friend is coming to help my husband move the stuff into the driveway and we are good to go. I am just thrilled. I am having Salvation Army come on Tuesday and take whatever is left over and then the garage will be officially cleaned out.

We're going to put shelving units for diapers, paper towels…all the stuff we buy at Costco that takes up tons of space in our closets. My CAR will be able to go in there so me and baby don't have to get into a cold car in February….It's all such a relief. So on this topic…anybody proud of their garages? Anybody want to show me theirs and what organizing tactics they've used? We'll be looking for lots of good ideas!!!

oops should have added...I live in Jersey! (so my big estate sale won't be around the corner from any of my LI buddies! - too bad - we could have had a combined garage sale / GTG!)

Patrick is compulsively neat in the garage. I wish I had pictures to show you!

He built shelves and holders for 'stuff' all over the place, and he vacuums it weekly. He's a geek, but he's MY geek, and I love him.

Can we add Natasha's bird to your garage sale, I think that it is an antique All the best. My GF loves these sales, she finds the best things and people are practically giving it away. I told her I would go with her once. She is in NJ too.

With our luck the gift giver would be at my garage sale and recognize his/her one of a kind wedding gift!!!

I love GS's too but I like to get rid of stuff. Once I have some time, I will try to check some out, kids toys are an awesome item to shop for. My SIL finds great stuff. She bought a battery powered car for my nephew-the kind your child sits in - for $10 on Saturday. $10! Those things cost anywhere from $175-$200. She said the husband was really p issed at the wife, he came over just as she sold it to my SIL. She also got Lukie a FP barn with animals. LOL, is a monkey with a bunch of bananas usually a barnyard animal? There was a monkey in with the cows and horses. LOL

he goes to NJ every weekend to see his SIL w/ my MIL and they are always going to tag sales and Estate sales
maybe they will go when they visit Cheryl and buy me and craig something
