How are things going with your house? You getting settled in?

Re: geegee827
thanks for asking - actual moving in day was yesterday! However, there were some issues with the moving truck so they didn't get to my apt until 1:30 in the afternoon yesterday (supposed to be there at 8:30 am). AND then they forgot the wardrobe boxes they were bringing me. If they went back and got them, it would have delayed things by at least another 2 huors. So tonight I have the fun of going back to my apartment and getting all the clothes that are hanging in my closet.
We're starting to get settled....of course I woke up this morning and as I was going into the kitchen to make myself a cup of tea started crying when I saw the mess of stuff in the living room......
There are boxes EVERYWHERE!!! Hopefully by this weekend it will start looking better.
I'm off from work again starting 12/23 until 1/4 so I'll be able to get a lot done then.
But I love EI so far! And thanks for the tip on the Chinese Food by Boston Market. We ordered it for dinner last night.
Now here's another question - with all the pizza places around on Montauk Highway - what one is the best?

Ooh good question. I know we counted once that we had 7 pizza places in town, maybe more. My dad actually took some friends and I on a pizza taste test back in college. I think Martinos won. However they get less business then a lot of the others, so I think if your ordering a pie they are the best, but for a slice, not always (on a weekend they are). For a slice I think Ginos, on Main St. in Islip is the best. But if you want fancy pizza Mulberry (CVS plaza) is good too. By the way both Ginos and Mulberry have great take out Italian (Gino's delivers.) I have heard good things about Fransescos take out too. Honestly I would work my way around, they are all good.
Tip for a good deli - Mr. G's right by the end of Bayview (across from where they are building the new Mulberry Street building.) His sandwiches are good and he is really nice. Or there is a deli in the white shopping center by A&S Pork Store. They are good too.
Also if you want a nice drug store experience try Country Village Pharmacy. Its the kind of place where they know you when you come in and ask you to call them to tell you how the meds are working for you.
Feel free to ask me any other questions.

Good luck with moving everything and setting stuff up. I am off that week too so if you need anything let me know.
I am still unpacking and moving stuff from my parents so I know what you mean about flipping out when boxes are in your living room.

Ahh Gina!! moving is INSANE!!!!
It takes a while to get all the boxes out of there and really go through everything. So don't be upset that it's not done in a day!!
For me it took months to get every single last box gone!! And I dread moving again!!! even though I look forward to buying a house immensely... i dread the whole process of packing and unpacking and ugh!! Then you always without a doubt lose something in the big move!!!! It's inevitable!!! But rest assured it will all work out and you will get there and be able to relax soon enough!!!!
Good Luck!!!!

Thanks so much for all these great tips. It really is super-helpful. By the way, DH discovered Stanleys (?) bakery the other day. Yummy.

The worst part is before we closed on the house, I was all about going through everything I own and throwin stuff out. Now, I'm just like 'take it and we'll deal with it later.'
On top of everything else - Christmas is in 10 days!! Ask what I've done - NOTHING!!!

Oh yes, very yummy. They have the BEST DONUTS EVER!!!! Go there on a Sunday and get some donuts. For special occasions, rainbow cookies and fancy cakes I prefer Manhattan Sweets in Islip. But I LOVE Stanleys cookies and rolls, and especially the DONUTS!!!
There is a beer store in town too, they sell TONS of beer and ice. Its a good thing to have right in town.
We also have 5 places to get ice cream/ice in town, plus 2 in Islip. This is a great town.

I just found a whole bunch of kitchen stuff that I had stored in my parents pool house attic. I forgot I even put stuff there. Meanwhile I thought it was lost and registered for most of it.

Re: geegee827
I feel so much better now. I was cleaning out one of my closets on Saturday and found TWO brand new coach bags. Now we all know I have a bag fetish, but 2 bags that I never even took the tags off? I don't even remember when I bought them. Of course, I don't even like them any more so I gave them to my mom who said she'd use them.
I haven't even moved all of my shower gifts out of my mom's basement yet.
DH and I officially have too much cr@p.
I'm just a little sad about Christmas. We bought a wreath and I put my ceramic tree in the bay windows but it's not the same. I miss baking my Christmas cookies and decorating.
