genealogy?

So, my father, who NEVER wants anything for his birthday, tells my mom that he would like to know more about his family history--mostly his family origins in Ireland. He decided since I'm detail oriented, that I would be the best person to do this for him.
He's actually my stepfather so there's a limited amount of info I will know on my own.
I'd rather set him up with an genealogy pro and my family and I will pay for it.
I've done a little google work, but curious to know if any of you have heard of such a service on LI?
