My mother about $20,000 when all was said and done. FIL $1,000 and MIL $200 about 3 months ago (so that would of been 8 months after we were married). My grandparents and DH gave more then his own mother. I expected this from her.

My parents paid or 1/2 of our wedding and we paid for the other 1/2. My MIL gave us nothing not even a card, so I would have thought any gift would have been nice.

I know how you feel about DH's siblings being favored more. DH's mom treats DH differently than her other 3 children, expects more from him and always giving him less. I also feel like a lot has to do with me, because she doesn't like me.

They paid for the photographer. Which was not cheap. They also paid for the limos. And I am sure a ton of smaller things that I can't remember. So probably $8000-$10,000

opps for they also paid for the rehearsal dinner

We didn't receive anything from DH's parents - not a gift, not a card, not even a verbal congratulations. A few days after the wedding, we received an e-card thanking us for inviting them (duh - you're DH's parents).

It is what it is - we've let it go to save the already strained relationship between DH and his family.

My paretns paid for our entire wedding and plus our e-party which was a total of over $70,000 for everything. DH's parents gave us $500. That is the same they give for there Niece's and nephews weddings in the past. My grandfather and brother gave us alot more then that.

5k cash gift, they paid for the Rehersal Dinner, and they bought all our wedgewood fine china.
They were extremely generous, and not having to worry about the rehersal dinner was great, all we had to do was show up!

we received nothing- not even a card- my mil showed up empty handed for my shower, did not offer to pay anything for the rehearsal dinner and gave us nothing at the wedding... so imho, I would be happy that they gave something

My ILs were very generous overall.. They paid for our RD, gave us money to help with wedding costs, bought us our china and gave us a very generous gift.. We were very lucky that all of our parents (mine are divorced) helped us out.. I don't think we could have had the wedding we did without their help.
