how did you know that you were pregnant?? other then a missed period??
here is my deal...it is not abnormal for me to miss a period...but i was back on a regular schedule and had it once a month for 10 months. but before that i hadnt had it for 9 months. i missed my sept and oct cycle and i took 2 tests towards the end of sept and they were both negative. i have been breaking out like crazy and i normally dont get pimples excpet for he occasional one or two before my period. idk if i am just stressing about something or what....what do you ladies think??

I missed my period, that's the only reason I knew. But I actually didn't even test until 2 weeks after it was supposed to come because I had just gone off the pill (we weren't technically trying, just taking a whatever happens, happens approach) and I figured my period was late because sometimes it can take a few months to become regular again. Turns out, I was pg and we're due in Feb.
But, having been on the PG board on LIF for a few months now, it's so hard to tell when/if you are pregnant, because soooooo many girls (including myself) have zero symptoms until they're late and test. And, since your cycle is irregular there is no way to tell when you ovulated so you don't even know if you had sex during an ovulation time. I would go to your gyn and get a blood test. If anything and you're not pg, they can run some tests and see why your body is skipping cycles.

You can, or just wait a week, up to you. You could get a pos. between now and then, or, depending on when you actually conceived, not get one until your appt. If you still don't get one at your appt, the dr will probably ask you the last time you had sex and then schedule another blood test a few weeks from that point just to be sure. And if not, ask the dr. if you should start some diagnostic testing as to why you're not regular.
Breaking out could be a symptom, my skin has turned into a teenager's from the pregnancy, but it didn't happen until I was about 10 weeks or so.

first let me say congrats before i forget again! i think i will have to test again before i go so i dont loose my mind!! at least if i get a pos ill know what is goin on...if i get another neg then there is a good chance that i am just not prego and i have to start getting these test that you are talking about..

you can keep testing - absolutely - but you could've ovulated late or have another underlying issue...
My skin is like a teenagers' as well and i'm 6 weeks, 1 day...it's all about the hormones baby!
Definitely get a blood test from a doc - schedule an appointment. They will have you pee for them too - but the bloodwork will give the DEFINITE answer....

congrats to you too BTW so i am almost 5 weeks late now so i am going to test again and try and schedule an apointment for as soon as i can!!
i am scared to be honest...that if i get a neg and have to go to the doc and the blood test is still neg.....i am scared to find out whats wrong and that i wont be able to have kiddies!!! ahhh!

We were trying, 1st month we got PG. I started testing 9 days after I ovulated and got a positive pregnancy test, on my birthday too!!
I would call your OB and have a blood test done and see what they say.

a bit over a year ago, my period was completely off, i had it every 2 weeks but i also went through a short period of time where i completely skipped periods and skipped more than one in a row. I also started breaking out. Went to the doc and you are right about a hormonal change but i wasnt pregnant it was just a hormonal imbalance i had
ETA: just saw your post about worrying if it is negative and something else wrong with you. Dont worry and dont go thinking the worst. If you do have a hormonal imbalance for example, its really no big deal and you can just take medication to fix it, wont effect your chances of getting pregnant

Funny you say that because this is what I convinced myself of when I took 3 home tests in a row and they were all positive. I was like, whatever home tests are all crap and can be wrong.
Turns out, I was VERY wrong about that. Actually, home pg tests (most of them anyway) are around 99.9% accurate I later learned. So it's actually uncommon to get a false positive. If there's even a little pregnancy hormone in you, it will get picked up on most home tests (this is why they say, 'a line is a line is a line'), provided it's not too early. THIS is when people say they got false negatives. But it's not actually a not a false negative technically, they just tested too early for there to be enough hormone to show up on a test. If they are indeed pregnant, it may just take a couple more days for enough hormone to be present to test positive.

Don't be scared. You can't worry about these things, at least not until they tell you there's something to worry about. So keep your chin up. And who knows, this could be your month!

I think you have that backwards.........False positives are rare as long as you do the test right and read it under the time alotted for each test. It is more common to have false negatives because either the embryo hasn't implanted or their isn't enough HCG in the system yet to be detected by the test.
Dr.'s offices use basically the same PG tests that you buy in the store. THe most accurate test is a blood test but even still that isn't always correct!

lil prestory to make this understandable.... i told my cousin a few weeks ago that i hadnt had my period and she sent me a text last night that said if you had some big news say a baby..you would tell me right?
