Girls who did SS and DMV in same day...

How long did it take overall to go to both offices in the same day?

I know there's probably a ton of variation...but I was able to get 'AM only' off on 2/5 (2 month anny, woot) to take care of my name change stuff. I'm going to push it till lunch time anyways.

Is this possible at all, or am I delusional? I'd be going to the Melville SS and the Hauppauge DMV. It's going to be a Friday, so I don't know if these offices would be busier or more quiet then.

I did both in one day and it took me about 2 hours for both....but that was up here in Westchester so I was like in and out at both dmv and ss.

I'm not changing my name but had to go to the Lindenhurst SS office when we got back from the HM because I needed an original SS card to be added to DH's insurance. I waited all of 2 minutes! I don't know how close that is for you but it was super-quick.

Hmm....that doesn't sound *too* bad then. My only concern is that the offices that are most convenient to where I live/work are such populated business districts, so will probably be some of the busier offices. Bah. My job can just wait

I would recommend getting to the social security office when they open so you can get on line right away. To reduce wait time you can prepare all of the forms in advance. If you run late most DMV offices have a late night one day a week (usually Thursday) where they are open until 7pm...they usually open later on this day then the rest of the week.

I went to the Huntington DMV and the Melville SS office. Both were completely empty and I was in and out of both combined in an hour. If you can, go to the Huntington DMV (not far from the Melville one) because they don't do driving tests and permit tests so it is MUCH less crowded than other DMVs. Also - remember that with a name change they make you take a new picture so look pretty! I didn't know that and I looked like crap.

Well I had to go to Queens so that took forever..

All in all I think it was like 3 hours max. We literally drove right from SS to DMV.

Then when we got home I called all my credit cards and utility bills to change the name.

It's worth it to try and get it all done on the same day.

I did both the day after Thanksgiving, but AZZ EARLY. I was at SS at 7:15 and at the DMV at 8:30. Both took me 15 minutes apiece.

ss office got there right when it opened i was out in 10 minutes

dmv online beofre they opened 30 min

It took me about 2 hours. I went to the SS office in Mineola pretty much pretty much when it opened and was in and out. I went to the DMV in Garden City right after that. That took a little longer but not too bad. I went in the summer so I don't know if that makes a difference.

I am in the Bronx too and I went to the social security office at 1380 Parker Street. I got there when it first opened and I was in and out less then 30 minutes.
For DMV go to the one in Yonkers. The one on Fordham where you MUST go to get a new licence is crazy and I have never met so many RUDE people in one place in my life!

ughh I did both on a wednesday morning. Went to medford dmv, was in and out in 20 min... then went to the melville SS office... I was there for about 3.5-4 hours. It was a mess! 90 % of the time I was there, there was only one window open! Told work I would be in by 10 got in at 12:45.

The SS office is in White Plains and then I went to the DMV in White Plains too----I'm not a fan of the one in Yonkers.

When I went it was ehh... probably about 15 people sitting there.. It really wasnt the fact it was 'busy' I just found them to be soooo slow! Even though there were 15 there when I got there, there were only a few people that actually went ahead of me. I guess the rest of the people had appointments for the people in the other room. Just people would take 30-40 min each at the window and most of the time there was only one window open. Once I got to the window though it took about 5 min lol.
