Girls who hate your jobs but are wanting a baby

Girls who hate your jobs but are wanting a baby

How are you handling this? I hate my job. I mean HATE my job. I come home crying at least twice a month and the stress is NOT conducive to a worry free pregnancy. I am casually looking for new opportunities but there is not much out there! We wanted to start TTC in the summer/fall. The way I see it, I gotta get a new job ASAP and then maybe wait until November-ish. I don't want to get a new job, get pregnant a month later and have everyone hate me, ya know? My mom thinks I should stick it out at my job, have a baby and then just not go back to work and send out my resume like mad while on maternity leave. This would mean at least a year and a half at hell though. Is anyone else in this position and what do you plan on doing about it? I know my gut is telling me to hold off on the baby plans but I want one so badly that I literally dream about it at night...

I think you need to decide what's right for you. If you don't think you can handle another year and a half at the job, then start looking for a new job less casually. There are jobs out there, not sure what you do, but for the most part, now is a great time to start looking. New year means companies have new budgets to hire.

Also, you never know how long it will take you to get pregnant once you start TTC so I wouldn't worry about that strict timeline so much. If you're miserable, then look for a new job. Either way, you can always try to find a job while you're out on maternity leave, but that just ads another stress to trying to figure out life with a newborn.

Remember, there's never a 'right' time for anything. Just figure out what makes you happy and follow your heart. If this job is making you miserable, it doesn't sound like another 1.5-2 years sounds possible to me.

My position is sorta similar, I am currently unemployeed and dh job does not offer insurance. I have my msw but failed my licensing test, I have never failed a test in my life it must have been the stress of the wedding and moving (my fam does not even know that I took it and failed) I am waitressing right now to make a few bucks but I totally hear you, the longer it takes me to get a job the longer its gonna be before we can start ttc, I was hoping to ttc by the fall but we will see. I kinda just keep saying to myself whats to be will be. Not sure if this helped much I think if you are that unhappy at your job then maybe you should not stay. What does your dh say?

My dh wants me to get a new job like yesterday. To the point where before we had a mortgage he told me to just quit and he would work overtime every night to support us. I have met with recruiters and applied to place last week but it seems everyone has extremely strict guidelines as to what they are looking for. I will be 27 in March so I know I have time for a baby (even thought I want one now) but my DH will be 34 around the time we start trying and he really wants a child before he is 35 and I totally understand and agree with him. I guess if I got a job now and got pregnant 6-9 months after it would not be the worst thing in the world.

i know EXACTLY how you feel. except that i'm not even FT employed. i'm a sub with 4 certifications and three degrees and NO real job. and that has been my reality for *sigh* FIVE years. DH has a job, a good paying teaching job, he's getting tenure this year and here we are struggling to pay bills and i'm miserable. it's really hard to not even be able to enjoy the ttc conversation... not even be able to think about a baby because it's just not the right time. so we're actually after two years of thinking, researching and discussion... are moving to another state in order for BOTH of us to have a job and then get on with our life. what it comes down to is you only live ONE time and you owe it to yourself to MAKE your life what you want it to be... i think it requires strength and vision and courage... and it isn't easy but i have to believe that good things wait for you (and me) :o) and in the meantime, i'm sorry you feel the way you do. it's hard to not have other people in your head (like my parents and their opinions)...in the end, it's your life, no one else's and while sometimes people have your best interest at heart, they still don't have to live your life :o) i wish you lots of luck! it will be okay! just breathe and think when you're not emotionally charged.

I don't have a job, which is causing a similar problem, because we need the money to have a kid and I feel I can't get a job and then take off right away. We have no idea how to handle it.

Well I am in a similar but not exactly the same situation - I like my job okay but it is a full time travel job and I am soooooo tired of not being at home. . some weeks I get to be here but I am usually gone 2-4 weeks a month (home for the weekends of course) I have no idea HOW we would get pregnant with my schedule - and I def would be grounded at about month 7 - and couldnt do it after I have a baby - but right now DH does not have a job and I don't want to get a job and literally stop 9 months later so have no idea what to do - and my job now is really good with benefits and such. . so just feel trapped. . .and I really don't have any time to wait bc I am and OLD lady
