Where is a good place to stay? Dh and I are planning a long weekend this month, but we have no idea where to stay. I know some parts can be a little 'shady' at night!! Thanks!
I'm not sure of pricing because the last time I went I was with my parents and they paid (ahh the good ole days )
I remember those days too!!! I'm gonna check out Embassy Suites!!

I'll look for something with magic fingers those kind of places are usually in your price range.
You could knock me over with a feather if Embassy Suites is expensive. My dad usually spends months searching for a good bargain that is a nice way of calling him cheap He tries to get every discount he has been asking for a senior discount since he was 40 maybe try that?

The basic rules are these (and these are generalizations): Don't go into SW DC (the residential parts; along the Tidal Basin and monuments and museums is fine). If you go into SE, keep to Capitol Hill along Pennsylvania and Independence Aves. In NW, stay West of 9th Street (Verizon & Convention Centers).
If you are looking to do touristy stuff, good places are either right on the Hill on the Senate Side (Holiday Inn on the Hill ; Hyatt Regency on the Hill ; Phoenix Park Hotel ); or up in the Dupont Circle Area (Jurys Doyle Hotel, Hilton Washington ). There are also a slew of hotels in Crystal City, Virginia, Pentagon City, VA, and Rosslyn, VA. All are Metro accessible which is ideally what you want for touring around. I wouldn't recommend driving around town necessarily just b/c parking can be dicey.
HTH and let us know if you need anything while you're down here!

No, not at all. It will be crowded b/c its a holiday weekend, but it's a three day weekend, so you'll get a chance to be here longer.
The one caveat is that the hotels may jump their rates b/c of the holiday, but better to come down now before the school groups descend upon the region for the Spring.

Hey ladies, my DH just suggested that we go down to DC, but he wants to go in the summer. Any thoughts on the Sheraton hotels in the area? we have points that we want to use. We want to see as much as we can & will probably go for 3night/4 days....
ETA for spelling...

I drive past this one to go to my sister's place, but not sure of the area: Four Points Washington . It could be ok, but honestly don't know.
There is one near where I live in VA that's close in and Metro accessible: Sheraton Cyrstal City
