Do some brownies and throw in something fancy like m&m's or pecans to make them seem more made from scratch all about the shortcuts!!

Do you have a trifle dish.
Make a chocolate layer cake thing. I don't know the proper name but it's easy.
Bake a boxed chocolate cake then cut it into thin layers. Make some instant puddling. In the dish layer chocolate cake and pudding chocolate cake again and more pudding chocolate cake on top then some cool whip. Sprinkle cushed up oreos over the top.
You can see why I never wrote a cook book .

two really quick ones good for summer:
1. my dad and i made this ALL the time when i was younger:
buy and bake a betty crocker super moist yellow cake mix. When cake is done and somewhat cooled, slice it in half lengthwise (like you are going to layer it). Flip the top over, and take some amaretto, frangelico, or any other nutty flavored liqueur (sp?) diluted with a little water, and brush it on the spongy part of the cake. buy some amaretto cookies and crush them up (either by hand - super easy, or in a food processor). Buy some butter pecan ice cream, spread over the spongy layer, and then sprinkle the crushed cookies on top. Put the top layer of the cake on, and freeze until a few minutes before ready to eat. you can use any leftover liquid and also sprinkle that on the top of the cake. totally delicious and very easy.
2. same idea, make a betty crocker yellow cake. let cool completely, ice with cool whip. cut up strawberries, kiwis, blueberries, and bananas and place all over the top and sides of the cake (cool whip should hold it in place, but maybe skip the sides if it's a pain) however you want. Really colorful, great summer cake that uses fresh fruit in season. my aunt from italy made this once and it was so yummy and refreshing.
cheesecake is also pretty easy if you 1. use the recipe on the philadelphia cream cheese box and 2. buy a ready made graham cracker crust and bake it in there and skip the whole springform pan ordeal.

Okay I had this thing called a DUMP CAKE and it was incredible. I included a page with a whole bunch of recipes because you can find one that uses fruit that you like. The one I had was peach, strawberry and pecan and it was out of this world!
She buys ready-made cookie dough - cooks it in a flat round pan (like a round cookie sheet with a little lip) then after it's cooked and cooled spreads the top with the fruit yougurt dip (T. Marzetti's makes a good one) - then spreads fruit slices on top in a pretty arrangement - kiwis, oranges, little baby grapes, sliced strawberries, etc...
It's really, really good.
