Going to Bermuda and Block island

I have pretty much the entire month of July off, and we are going to Bermuda and Block Island. Does anyone have any recommendations, restaurants or activities?

I heard Block Island is nice, but there is no air conditioning. Check it out before you book it if this matters to you. I know DH would definitely have a problem with no air conditioning in July!

I've been to Bermuda on a cruise and if was beautiful. We went to the pink sand beach I think it was called the Horseshoe beach. We went jet skiing and also visited a cave. It was a long time ago, so I don't remember. I remember partying hard at the Beach Bar across from the port. It was a lot of fun.

I have been to block island. I don't remember the air conditioning thing, but I went in mid september and it wasn't too hot out so that may be why. I loved it there. Very relaxing. The one thing I would recommend is getting a Lobster Roll when there. AWESOME! I still dream about them. YUMMY! I also rented mopeds for the day and that was fun. Great for site seeing.

I'm going to be at Block probably a day or two this weekend.

There are 2 parts of the island. Old Town & New Harbor. One is... older and one is new. You can get around very easily in taxis. They are everywhere, they are cheap & they are usually beat up old vans without air conditioning. Also - the island is very laid back and not dressy at all. No need to pack fancy clothes. Honestly. Being MAYBE one dress.

I usually go to Ballard's Beach during the day. They have a bar/restaurant right there & you can get food delivered to your beach blanket. Can't beat it. They always have a band playing.

They have mopeds and para sailing and everything else an island should have. If you go to Champlains' marina, they rent kayaks & stuff. They usually have a band at Champlins dock too. its always packed there, People bring their boats from all over & tie up & party. Pretty fun.

there are plenty of restaurants overlooking the water wear you can sit & eat & have a drink. I would def recommend The Spring House. One of the very few fancier restaurants. They also have a hotel there which is very pretty. We usually go there.

PS - somewhat true about the A/C. Many of the hotels have it but not the Inns & B&Bs or restaurants. BUT you are on a TEENY TINY island and its very breezy.

national hotel on block island is GREAT location, walked there right off the ferry and we didnt have to take any taxis at all while on the island. we biked the whole island on one day, and beached and walked round town the rest of the wknd. I wasnt a fan of Ballards but thast bc i dont like noisy beaches....so we went to the beach behind Surf Hotel, when you go you will know wher ei am talking about.

Ballards doesnt even allow you to bring in water, they search your bags - the want you to buy all beverages and food there.....and its noisy, which is fun if your into that - lots of people there and bands/music playing loudly.

all in all - i LOVED block island, we went june 20th (jsut a couple weeks ago) so the no AC was not a problem at all - its very cool at night. VERY casual and Like Caroline said, the Spring house is a great place for a cocktail and Hotel Manisses is good for dinner. We also ate at Winfields (air conditioned) and very good food.

I'm glad others responded about the A/C. I have not been there, but my cousin goes all the time and loves it and mentioned there is no a/c, so I wanted to give you a heads up.

Enjoy your vacation.
