Going to the final layout for my album tonight - nervous!

We have had so many issues with our photographer, and I just want to be done with them. Tonight we're going to approve the final layout. Hopefully it will all go smoothly.

We are also bringing back our DVD and our 11x14 portrait. We are unhappy with both. the 11x14 is not as sharp as it should be and pixilated, and the DVD is also kind of fuzzy and pixilated.

I'm nervous b/c I hate confrontation. I'm not good at talking to people about things like this, and I usually just give in. On the plus side, my parents and DH's parents are going (we do all this stuff together..it's ridiculous), and DH's father is good at speaking up. I just turn red and become silent.

I need my LIW girls to pump me up so that I have a backbone tonight!

sorry to hear of your issues with photographer.. in regards to your dvd and 11x14... find out what size the orginal (ditigal file) is. I find it hard to believe that is pixalated when they 'should' have high end equipment. Is the pictures a photomontage? or just proof shots?

It wasn't digital photography, it was film..which leads me to believe they scanned the photo or the negative to make the enlargement. It's not a photomontage, just a blown up proof. They definitely have high end equipment.

i woudl ask them to do it over...no picture (espcially, a wedding picture) should be pixalated. they need to scan as a much higher dpi rate...so when they go to blow it up, it still a sharp picture as it is when you get a 5x5 proof

What kind of person would give you a FUZZY portrait? AND a fuzzy video?

The whole point of these items is to PRESERVE your wedding...not mess it up!

If they're fuzzy NOW, what will they look like 25 years from now? Horrible!!!

Or maybe they shouldn't have scanned it in the first place. If they used film, they have negatives & they should make the enlargment from that.

In regard to the 11x14, they told me that b/c it was 35mm film that the photojournalistic pics were shot on, it has a grainy quality, and there's nothing they can do about that. My opinion is that they used too high a speed 35mm film. Anyhow, they told me to keep that one (which, on the wall, still looks gorgeous - it's just up close that you notice it), and they will make us an 11x14 of another pose. We chose a gorgeous pic that was taken from the back of the sanctuary of the whole ceremony. The print of that pic for our album was stunning, and I think it will look wonderful on our wall.

As far as the DVD, I complained, but the video person wasn't there at that time. They said that it would help to bring back a VHS copy as well (the VHS was much better). My ILs have to go back to look at something, so they are goign to bring the DVD and VHS then. Hopefully, it will be resolved.

oh...that could explain a couple of things...

with some effort...the 11x14 can be fixed with photoshop. If they shot it at the wrong speed, nothing you can do about that. they should of known better

I agree about the issue converting it over. When we watched both the DVD and the VHS, we came to the conclusion that they converted it at a poor quality in order to get it all onto the DVD. Hopefully, when we bring it back, they will see what we mean and fix it.

Remember, you paid them a lot of money to get it right...so don't leave there till it's right!!!
