Got an 'interesting' gift today from people I never heard of!

I looked up the store it came from Sherve Crump and Low and apparently it is the oldest jeweler in Boston. Its a gurgling cod pitcher! When you put liquid in it and swirl it around it gurgles like a fish! It was not inexpensive either! Definately the oddest gift we received and I don't even know who they are! I am assuming they are distant relatives of DH but I can't reach him to find out! What a mystery!

Ours is the middle one in white!

But of course... Christine, I REGISTERED for the whole set

OMG, that is completely useless and UGLY!
It's probably a fortune...

OK, now get on e-bay's website...

It's probably good that you don't know the person, I'm not sure if I'd want to know them

I know! I was trying to be polite in my post but this is really wins I got the strangest gift contest. I thought it was odd enough but when I saw on the website that it gurgles when you put water in it, I just lost it! Thank God we are not close with these people and have to have them over for dinner.
I could hear the conversation....
'So where is our lovely pitcher we spent a fortune on?'

'On Ebay as we speak!'

It's a big Bostonian custom to give these as wedding gifts, I think. My friend from Boston got one for another friend from Boston and I guess in certain circles, it is expected that someone will get one for you for your shower or wedding gift.

The white one is the best of the three, I think

I got something from that store too!!! It has been sitting in our storage closet since. It was a small bowl, green on the outside, and gold with a pomegrante on the inside! So ugly!!

I may be weird Christine, but I think thats kind of cool (in that 'pull it out after a few bottles of wine at a dinner party at your house and laugh hysterically' kind of way.)

Keep it around and bring it out when you need a laugh!!!

We actually are thinking about giving to my brother's wife for her birthday! If you knew her, it really is funny!

The is the same girl who took over my old bedroom the week of the wedding since the bed is the most comfortable and stuck me in the rock hard bed in the guest room! So I think she could use a fish pitcher.

I'm not complaining, believe me. We barely know these people- they certainly didn't have to send us a gift.

Have to admit it Stef- its starting to grow on me too!
