GREAT start to my day!

so our street decided to paint two lanes & change the parking rules two days ago.....So last night the hubster & i completely forgot & parked out front of our building which was always perfectly fine before...
so this morning guess what??? OUR CAR GOT FREAKIN' TOWED.

grrrr i am just SO annoyed. i stuck the dogs out the front door to pee last night, glanced at the car & thought for a second 'hmm - should i move the car? i know josh doesn't like leaving it out on the street overnight' but thought eeh what the heck. it's freezing & rainy it'll be fine. the thought of the new parking rules didn't even cross my mind! i am just SO mad at myself. This morning dh & i went to go leave for work at 7:30....mind u, parking rules start at 7. so in that amount of time they were able to pull this off the jerks were probably WAITING up the block.

i'm just so annoyed...we can't fix this untill friday and of COURSE it's supposed to rain the next two days...so my travels to work should be real lovely walks grrrrr - I HATE unneccesary expense especially this time of year i'm just so annoyed/angry/upset. not to mention our rent is due this friday too which we'll now have to post-pone. GOTTA love the city right?? it took me forever just to even get an answer this morning..i swear - someday when we're back in the burbs i think the parking/tickets/&any&all things related are the one thing i will NOT miss!

GGRRRR i just wanna yell & punch a pillow lol.

it is just SO annoying! i know we were wrong & it was our own fault for not realizing....but i feel like they just wait up to block for it ya know? like 'well we should get plenty of hits since the rules just changed a day ago'.. and the fact that it was within 20minutes?! i hope i get there & they did it before 7 that way i can fight & not have to pay lol.

YEAH!! i always felt that they would just sit there and wait until that certain time to hit so they could give you a ticket!!!! ugg so frustrating!!

Taryn, so sorry!!! That freakin SUCKKKKKKKS! I had my car towed once because I had parked by the school and either forgot or didn't realize I had to move it - the crossing guard told me on my way to work that she saw my car pass by on a tow truck! I was like, HOLYCRAP! It was pretty expensive too!

And on black friday we put the car at a meter at 9am and DH went to move it to a regular parking spot at 9:30 and we had gotten a ticket!!! I was like, HOW and WHY did we get a ticket when we fed the meter? Well, the freakin rules (in small print) say no parking from 8-10am or whatever so they came by at 9:14 and gave us a ticket!!!!

So I feel you!

I think you should still fight it - they really should give the block a week to get used to these damn new rules. I know the city's not nice or understanding but tell them you were away or something and didn't notice the sign -- maybe they will give you a break?? Maybe??? It's worth trying.

Didn't they blast through loud speakers to move the cars??? If they didn't maybe you can fight it. Uuughhhh that really s u c k s . We came back from our HM to find out that our car had been towed. We went from the airport to the Marshall.

NO! that's the thing...they didn't do ANYTHING! not that they have to - but c'mon...everything was changed on sunday..u think they would've atleast blew the fog horns right?! our apt. is stretched back to front of our building too - so all our front windows are right on the street - we didn't hear or see ANYTHING. not even blinky lights lol(but why would we - it's daytime )...i stood making dh's lunch, & dh was right in the dining room ironing his shirt...neither of us heard or saw a thing

I hate the fact that the city is doing any and everything to get money. During the holidays... come on!!!
And then those stoopid fees keep adding on daily.

wait is this for alternate side parking? and they towed the car? I NEVER heard of cops towing a car for alternate side parking, that is seriously insane. By me there is always 1 or 2 cars that get tickets for alternate side parking, when i go to move my car i always see it. In the past i have gotten tickets for it too but never seen them tow anybodies car, just ticketed.

Maybe they should realize some people dont even know yet since its so new. But I saw on the news that bloomberg said that the city will be giving alot of tickets and that sort of stuff to help bring money to NYC, yeah great plan lets take money from the people living in NY to help them lol. It is bad now bc I see cops EVERYWHERE now and see them stopping people all the time and just out there trying to see who they can ticket

yeah exactly, i mean tickets S*CK but you can deal with it, getting your car towed is just so horrible. This happened to DH last week, he was parked by a job he had and since he didnt have commercial plates for his car, or even it saying his companies name on the car they towed it bc of where it was parked, meanwhile everyone at his company parks there bc they are allowed. He doesnt need commercial plates though, his company gave him a mini van to have for work, since he does have big boxes and stuff to carry and they need to drive to these sites the company supplies them, and since its not a van or anything doesnt need the commercial plates. He actually alway wrote his company name on cardboard lol and puts it on the dashboard so they can see it when he parks. It was annoying but he had to go during work bc he needs the van. BUT here is a tip, since he went early in the day, he said he was in and out of there very quickly and didnt take long at all. HE said thank god he got there when he did bc he was the only one there, but as he was walking out it was close to the time most ppl get out of work and a big line was forming already.

yea..it's just more of an annoyance than anything else. it is such a PAIN to get it back because they don't have anything in one place.. u have to go to the impound to get the registration, then to another place to pay, then back to the impound, etc. etc.. all while THEY have ur car lol.

and it's just ANNOYING to know how much money we have to pay out just because of a dam n parking space right outside our apartment that we parked in for 10extra minutes! THAT'S the most annoying thing... if it wasn't raining i gaurantee our regulars who usually hang outside the deli downstairs would've came & knocked on our door to tell us & we could've just moved.

honestly there's not much i can do because they did put up new signs...however like i mentioned before, they're IDENTICAL to the previous ones except the verbage changed..so who the heck would even know they changed! ANNOYING. but the bottom line is 'they posted signs'..so dh & i now have to shell out a couple hundred dollars & waste friday morning running around on subways for nothing. i'm never parking there again! i don't care WHEN u're aloud!

dont feel bad - something similar happened to me last year -
basically i was parking in a no standing between certain times zone and i literally got to the car 7 minutes after the time given
when i asked why they couldnt just give me a ticket they said the traffic agents in the two truck literally circle the block until it turns that certain time and tow people - so stressful and it set me back a couple hundred bucks
