GTG VENT!!!!

OMg, this is beyond ridiculous. Please just let me vent and flame if you feel you need to.
I get it the western girls want it in Queens, and the Eastern girls want it in Suffolk. I guess this is why each county had it's own GTG' till now.

If the location changes whatever, I will still go. (If anyone wants my cranky PMS A$$ there after this)

Yes Queens is hard on a friday night for most of us. And weekends are hard because people have lives!

If we move it to Nassau we might get 2 people to come, but then lose 3 other people. If we keep it in Queens those 3 people might come but then 2 others won't. In the end the guest list of GTG's change. People get lazy, sick, change their mind, etc

Sorry, I just feel like poor Kathy is spinning because everyone wants it to be easiest for them.

Sorry, I just feel like this is getting semi-ridiculous. Please know that I love you all and want to meet each and everyone of you, but you cannot make EVERYONE happy.

Just let me know when and where, I'll be sure to check until Friday at 5pm to see what changes happen!!

Exactly Ryan. I think everyone wanted to go and unfortunately considering people's schedules and locations it is impossible to get everyone at one place. It is never a perfect proposition...all we can do is try. We can't please everyone and all we can do is create GTGs often and if you can go, great, and if not, you can go to the next!

In LI again?...I think thats whats getting alot of us riled up. That we are active and we are friendly with many of the girls but all of the gtgs are always in LI. KAth asked me to organize one in LI but I said I would only do it if it were guranteed more than me and one other would show up. Because it seems that for people to drive out of LI its such a burden but hey, I live in NJ and was willing to come out on the LIRR. No one was willing to pick me up.

We need some more flexibility I think or else things start to seem cliquey and none of us wants that. The fact we're all getting snarly over one dang day is ridiculous.

okay i just want to make it clear that the other night when i mentioned queens i said it meaning it to be for a down the road g2g...meaning 'lets plan this in advance so everyone can come & work out their situations'.... i didn't mean for my reccomendation to turn into such a mess! lol. i'm sorry if thats what started all the drama ...someone mentioned gtg - and all i said was 'hey - why not plan the next one somewhere in the middle so everyone can come'...then there was all this talk about THIS friday! lol. i'm bummed because i live around the corner & can't even come! lol. honestly - if there's girls coming from all over we should plan an 'Ultimate G2G'(as jenn called it ) in advance... anything else like 'hey lets get a few of us & head over to irish times'(which i wish i could meet u girls for!) or 'who wants to do something fun this weekend' is TOTALLY different...I'm just saying - when it's gonna be 'Lets have an ultimate liw g2g!' lets figure it out a few weeks in advance! i have YET to meet everyone lol.

When I plan the GTG's in LI I plan them because that is where most of the girls who say they want to come are from. I leterally take out a map, see where people say they are from and pick a middle ground.
I LOVE the idea of an Ultimate GTG, sounds great. I in no way wanted to alienate (sp?) anyone, not the Nassau Girls or City girls, least of all Jerey girls. Please understand hat this was a Vent!, mu opinion and feelings. I want the 07er's to ba as buddy-buddy as always. Had I known it would cause drama, I never would have planned a GTG.
This one was a last minute idea of a few peope in a certain area were gonna go to a bar, then, I dunno how, just spun out of control. I didn't plan it, just wanted to go to it, because I like ALL of the girls I have met so far.

I hope, like me, that everyone wakes up and enjoys this new day and we can all go back to enjoying the NW board. I mean what kind of an example are we setting for the 08 girls who are coming over here?

i just want all of you girls to know that i dont care where it is.. i live in nassau but drive to suffolk all the time being that my parents live there..
if we had it in suffolk county , i would be more that happy to drive out there!!

I'm jealous of all of you who even have a CHANCE of being able to go to any venue in NY!

I was thinking about this this morning and I think i know where one of the failing points was that made it spin out of wack; semantics.

Meaning simple miscommunication through a misleading title. Kath called it the 'bachelorette GTG' and though she meant it simply in a fun context, I think the titles have a lot to do with these things.

Like myself, I am willing to travel out on the LIRR if someone can get me there at the station because I don't drive. But if I see in the title is says 'Suffolk GTG' or 'East Podunk GTG' then I read through briefly and see whats going on. If it seems I wont be able to get a ride or the meeting is taking place very late then I just write it off and hope for the next one because I understand from the getgo that its in a far out place and I may not be able to go so I dont get my hopes up and its all fine.

But this was toted as a GTG to celebrate TWOTY, caleld a 'Bacheleorette GTG' up until last night, and as two of the members of the actual party were fine for going to Queens as was the creator of the whole thing (Kath) I myself (because I can only speak for myself) said 'WOW thats awesome! Its a ' psuedo bacheloerotte party' which means TWOTY members have to be accomodated and since they're down for Queens, AWESOME! Still a long trip for me but a lil' more doable.'

But it was a misleading title and again I KNOW Kath didn't mean it to be that way. But it was confusing because there was never any intention of making it center around TWOTY BP although thats what the title of the event suggested. I personally think thats why so many of us in NY were annoyed. Had it been said from the getgo 'Nassau GTG' or 'Irish Times GTG' then you know what you're dealing with and can work out your schedule. You know then its a local thing thrown together kinda haphazard and you dont make youself nuts trying to get involved because you know it might be harder for you to get there.

The NY girls NEVER get to go to any of the GTGs because they are usually not planned well in advance. The LI girls made the point they need pre-planning for a trip into the city. Well don't you think that cuts both way? I live in western NJ. I DEF need advance warning. Many girls complained about the 1 hour trip into the city. Its a 2 1/2 hour trip for me to LI but I was willing to do it. Even to get to the city from NJ its an hour for me. I travel an hour to work EVERY DAY. So NY for me personally is a halfway point. When i lived in the Bronx in Co-Op, still took me 45 min to an hour to get to the city. Girls in the boroughs have some commuting to do to, so its not like only the LI girls are being put out. I'm not trying to be abrasive but I think people need to hear and understand that point/

All this back and forth ill the very last minute was a little ridiculous. Hopefully the next one will be a little better organized and recieved becaue we all do generally get along and the temper tantrums that were thrown don't illustrate that. Thats sad.

This is what we were also discussing for the Newlywed Picnic/BBQ which we to start discussing. I need to put another vote. It will be between Eisenhower Park or Belmont Lake. They are both reachable for everyone.

We all need to travel a little bit.

I am going to try to plan a NYC gtg with DH. This way our NY girls including you can come and we can all meet. But for the sake of the LI girls, I will post in advance to let everyone know and we can figure scheduling.

Thats what my point is Michelle. It wasnt originally being cast as a last minute thing. Kath seemed to have a good handle on it but then time ran out. Thats why I originally said in my post these things HAVE to better planned and there needs to be caution with titles. If you're going to call it soemthing thats all-inclusive and make it seem as if you're willing to accomodate everyone, then you need to do that. Im fine with it fi they wanted it to be in Nassau, but it should have been classified that way from the beginning.

What annoyed many of the NY girls was that some of the LIers were crying about their commute after work but ours is hard too. You're talking about how it becomes late and husbands are unhappy..I live in NJ....I have to take trains and subways home late. My husband isnt happy about that either. But I was willing to compromise. If you're going to post in advance for the LI girls, you HAVE to give the same courtesy to the NY/NJ/PA girls. Thats whats not happening. People kep saying the LI girls need advance warning, they need consideration. Yes they do but it is a TWO way street.

Thats the point. there needs to either be more willingness to compromsie on ALL sides, or the GTGs will continue to be cliqueish.
