Most of the friends i made in college, just all happend to be guys... not that i dont get along with women! but thats just how it turned out... they all know im married, some have met DH and some havent, and my relationship with them is NOTHING sexual, attraction, completely friendship. For those girls who do have 'best guy friends' has your relationship with them changed since you got married? before i got married i used to hang out with them alot, wether they'd accompany me shopping or we'd go get some coffee...since i got married ive barely seen any of them....some of them have gfs, but none of them are Married (so its not like we can double date)... i just wanted to get a perspective on how other girls in my position view this as. i can tell you DH is not 'thrilled' when he sees one of them has texted me, or called me... and i guess thats why i havent hung out really with any of them since i got married. Last week i did go visit one of my guy friends that i have known for almost 7 years, i dropped by after work just to say hello, and i was talking about it to one of my co-workers...and she was looking at me like i have 5 heads... she said 'your a married lady, what are you doing at some guys house at night' ....although i did give her my piece of mind, i dont know what to make of all of this anymore. thought i'd get some advice. . . .

Re: Guy Friends after your Married
This is something that you have to discuss with your DH really. I have one male coworker that is the only non relative male who ever texts me or calls me or anything. If I went to hang out with a guy at his home, or even just one on one ANYWHERE that would be unacceptable in our relationship and vice versa for women with DH.
But every relationship is different so you have to find what works best for you

if you and DH have a solid relationship and he knows that he would have no reason to worry then your relationship with your guy friends shouldb't be affected. I made sure that DH met all of my guy friends so that he would be comfortable with them and he has actually has become great friends with some of them too. I wouldn't worry! hth

I think this is something that you and your DH speak about. Most of my close guys friends DH knows and were in our bridal party. I text and call and visit and it is not a problem in our relationship bc DH has known these guys for years. We have a lot of the same friends so it works out for us. There are plenty of times when DH wont want to go somewhere with me and he will tell me to call x person so I dont go alone. With new friends that rule doesnt apply though

Re: Guy Friends after your Married
My man of honor has been around for over 10 years in my life he is my best buddy! I also have another guy friend who we are always on and off as friends and we go back 9 years.
Dh is fine with it except the on and off one because he did said 'I love you' to me a few times even when engaged and i respect not that dh doesn't want me to bring him in our apartment but is cool if we hang out outside with other friends. I just simply avoid hanging out with him because I found it rude stating those comments when I was engaged and knew i wasn't remotely interested.
My man of honor we see each other less now because he has a gf and they both work like two jobs so its hard to get together at times. Honestly I do miss him and dh says go out with him just make plans and go but its hard because of our schedules.
I really never had female friends and Dh knew that getting into our relationship. I also told him that I would of broke up with him if he got in the way of my friendships and he never did. So I kinda laid down the law prior to marriage. A few people do make comments about me having a guy friend - I just say if i was going to f-him i would of done it 10 years ago so get over it.

Re: Guy Friends after your Married
my one and only guy friend is gay so DH doesnt care - nor should he!!
it really does depend on your relationship with DH... i know that before we were married... in the begining of our relationship, DH had A LOT of female friends... most of them were not in relationships & i def would have been peeved if DH just decided to hang out with them one on one - ESP in their house/apt etc. there were maybe 2 of them i could totally and completely trust that they werent going to make a move on DH - which obviously, DH would never do anything, but its just the thought of him being in that situation... i didnt even want that to happen!!
but now he doesnt talk to any of them anymore... i guess i scared them all away

Re: Guy Friends after your Married
Two of my best friends are guys. One is getting married this weekend (yay!) and the other is single and dating around. The married one really doesn't do much without his FW, but we do have lunch together, etc... DH once said many years ago that he felt most threatened by this man because we are so close. Now that we've been together for 11 year, DH knows he has nothing to worry about. Honestly, not much has changed in my relationships with these men because DH and I trust one another. DH is friends with them too but on another level I suppose.
