Re: HAPPY 50th BARBIE!
lol although I do find this funny!!! I think they should make barbie dolls in all shapes and sizes...its unrealistic how tiny barbie is.... I think it sends a bad message. Those proportions on a real women would not be even near healthy.

If Barbie was a real person with those measurements she would fall over constantly, and have severe back problems!

oh definitely!! I got so annoyed a while back when one of those makers of barbie was interviewed about it. I remember him using the argument that nobody is red and hairy either, but we still have no problem with our children playing with ELMO toys. So why have an issue with the 'wrong' proportions of Barbie? Umm.... what??? The difference is that barbies are made to resemble 'perfect' human beings. I remember being little and playing with them and I really thought that this was how a woman was supposed to look. Stupid.
I thought they did make a 'bigger' barbie in the past though. I remember them coming out with a new barbie who had real proportions, but maybe it didn't sell? Not sure. I used to have a pregnant one though. lol. And I loved her.

Re: HAPPY 50th BARBIE!
I use to play with barbie, growing up. I just looked at her as a doll and never compared her to myself. Heck I think barbie is great. Look at all the careers that doll has. Doctor, Vet, Nurse, Fast food, Rapper, Teacher, Model, Glam singer, hair stylist, ballerina, Olympic gymnast, etc... Barbie was pretty much everything.

really?? I never noticed her wedding band (or the lack there of). That's so funny. My pregnant barbie actually had a baby inside of her tho!! You can take off the top of her belly and pull out the little baby inside. haha. I loved it back then, but I tend to feel a tad disturbed when I think about it now.
And as for the barbie careers - that's so true! They had it ALL. I remember I had one of those younger barbies that was supposed to be a teenager (can't remember her name - Stacie or something) and she was a worker at PIZZA HUT! lol. It came with Heroes, pizza, soda pitchers & cups, knives, plates, etc, etc. And she wore a teeny tiny mini skirt in which her butt cheeks (if she had 'em) were hanging out the back and an awfully revealing belly shirt. I do not recall Pizza Hut workers ever dressing so sexy (especially at 15 or whatever age she was meant to be. lol) She looked more like a waitress at Hooters. But i loved her nonetheless!!
