Has anyone...

Original post by JennRenee

...read any good books lately? I just finished Picture Perfect by Jodi Picoult, which was excellent (like most of her books, in my opinion ), and I'm waiting for my friend to finish Kiss My Tiara: How to Rule The World As A Smart Mouthed Goddess(as if I need pointers, lol ) and The Nanny Diaries so she can lend them to me. In the meantime, does anyone have any recommendations??
Thanks!

Memoirs of a geisha - arthur golden I thought was great

poisonwood bible - barbara kingsolver also great...but long

for the suspense people...I loved deen koontz - intensity and stand - stephen king

a classic?...gone with the wind...
I'm going to bring don quixote with me to spain...

I am not a harry potter fan...although my DH loves them...they are great children's books, but thats what I feel they are (no offense to the fans...I know there are a lot just MO)

I loved the Harry Potter Books - they were so cute and an easy read. I didn't read #4!
Summer Sisters was good too - Judy Blume. My BF bought me that one for me!
I think I'm going to pick up another Joy Fielding book. I loved the first one I read.

A book club would be fun - let's think about it!

While we are on the topic of books - any good friends books. Since my BF is going to move out of state, I thought I'd also get her a book as part of her gift that kinda symbolizes our relationship! Any thoughts would be great!

Yabbobay - Im a big Koontz & King fan too. Another suggestion is King's Desperation...very scary to me.

I read the first Harry Potter book and while it was an easy read, it doesn't appeal to me either.

About a boy (if you haven't seen the movie already) is a good book if you can tolerate the english idioms.

I didn't care for the Harry Potter's either. I was disappointed though because I really expected to love them.

Cira ~ Best Friends by Martha Moody was a great book. It was very serious though. You might want to read it before giving it as a gift.
Dating Without Novocaine by Lisa Cach is a fun friend book. A quick and humorous read too! Oh, and also On the Verge by Ariella Papa. Another fun quick read, which is about three good friends.

I am waiting to read About A Boy. My sister just bought it... She's a very sloooooow reader though.

I have read all three of the books you suggested, and I love them all too!

Actually, I am about to finish Divine Secrets and I want to see the movie. I'm also thinking about reading the author's first novel, Little Alters Everywhere. Did you read that one? Is it as good as Divine Secrets?

Re: Melissa27

Just finished Nanny Diaries which I really enjoyed. The writers style needs to be refined a bit but I totally cheered for the main character. Particularily great for anyone who has worked in childcare.

divine secrets

years ago my friend (who now lives in GA and has turned southern belle) sent me the divine secrets to me and 2 others who grew up together...so if you had the tight connection it would be a good friend book..
