has anyone been to the bikram yoga in rego park?

I think it just opened in November; curious if anyone has been and what it's like? I REALLY need to get back, hate the Union Square one, and this one is like a 15 minute walk from my apt.

TIA!

Hmmmm - let me know if you decide to check it out. .

I am totally not flexible - do you think I would have a hard time??

not at all. if you read the website they actually say this for first timers:

Be prepared to sweat and have a good time
When most people think of yoga, images of chanting and people maneuvering into seemingly impossible positions come to mind. Yoga is NOT just for the fantastically flexible. In fact, if you are not flexible, if you cannot touch your toes, or perhaps cannot even see your toes, you are a perfect candidate for the benefits of yoga.

the hardest part is the heat, but you feel so amazing afterwards. I really want to start again but I need a convenient location; this is on woodhaven so it doesn't look too far. I'll let you know. Cross fingers that I will motivate my fat butt to go to the 8pm class tonight!

nice! you are so resourceful! thanks. I love how she complains about the price. the one in Union Sq is now $25 a class, is always packed and I kind of hate the owner. I think I can deal with a 15 minute walk... hopefully.

my supervisor is an instructor in Bklyn...I would think they are all the same 100F while doing yoga

i can't picture it in my head but according to google maps I can walk it in 15 minutes so we'll see! walking home might be rough if my legs turn to jello, which they usually do after bikram.

i was just wondering how the studio was... if it's clean, gets really crowded, etc. I know all bikram is 105 degrees or something like that

I go to one in Bayside. I used to go to the one in Rockville Center. This one is more laid back but, I really like it and they also have hot vinyasa.

Are you talking about Hot Yoga Paradise? I live in Whitestone and have always wanted to try it. Which class is best for a beginner?

yes, it has a different owner now its called be hot yoga now. I really like it there its more relaxed then most bikrim places. I would start with the regular hot yoga class. There are no beginners in hot yoga everyone goes at there own pace. There are always new people there so you won't be alone. The hot vinayasa is harder so I wouldn't try that first.

bikram is totally different than other hot yogas; it's definitely more intense. I liked the hot vinyasa when i did it but it's harder to find i think...

bikram is 90 minutes long, 100+ degrees... but anyone can do it. You can always sit out poses.

Isn't that right past St. John's Cemetary before London Lenny's?

i think so - i don't know where london lenny's is but it's near the cemetery; there's a 7-11 right there. I was able to walk so it was great.

Right. There used to be a Dunkin Donuts across the street. There's also...is it Kate Cassidy's and Bridies (sp?). I think it's all before Abbraciamento...
