Has anyone ever bought lobsters..

...from the guy on 110 in Farmingdale. (by Sky Drive south of Conklin St.)

DH and I passed him today and were discussing it.

He has been there forever! If he was selling bad fish, he would have been shut down by now, right?

do you think it's safe??

no, he is always there, same guy...for as far back as I can remmember.

so, we were saying he must not give ppl food poisoning very often since he hasnt been shut down.

its not even a store, he sells out of coolers and a refridgerated van.

Thats why were were discussing it. It sounds like it would be a place to go if you WANTED to get sick, yet, he has been there forever.

Okay, I confess. DH got some lobster tails from him. I eat lobster and seafood all the time. This guy is legit. Stuff is okay and pretty good!

DH says every year that he wants to buy lobster tails from him and bring them camping with us Memorial Day weekend. He's cheap! And like Christine said, if he was selling bad food, he'd have been shut down ... so maybe we will buy some before memorial day and try them ... ??

LOL Christine we passed by this guy every weekend on our way to and from BJs

this week we were SO tempted to pull over and be like what the heck is this? are you legit??

I know plenty of people that buy from that guy and everything is very good and very cheap! I say go for it
He's been there forever. Plus I know there's others like him that sell seafood on the side of the road and it's all good

Whwnever I drive past there.....he has a line of people waiting to buy from him. He's been there for as long as I can remember.

If some random guy appeared on a street one day...I wouldn't buy from him but bc this guy seems to be 'established' I think I'd try him out!

Ya if they were bad he would ahve been shut down. Basically if he is selling fresh live lobsters, not much could wrong. if you are thinking of cooking them, buy them alive and bring them home right away to cook. You need to put them in the pot alive. Its kinda sad. I don't make lobster at home cus I don't like killing them.

I've seen him but never stopped to check it out. I may have to. I've been on a bad lobster kick. I can't get enough! How cheap is he? Does anyone recall how much he was selling for?

I do know who you are talking about! lol I have never bought anything from him, but those people that sell stuff like that cheap, usually they are fine, but the lobsters can be small. I was going to buy some once, but saw that they were cheap b/c they were so small lol

i have never personally bought from him, but my friends mom did and i have eaten it and it's totally fine. i believe he may be associated with the fish market that is up the road from where he situates himself. totally legit.

DH mentioned getting stuff from him. I wasnt sure, but usually trust DH b/c hes serve-safe certified and knows a lot about food safety. He says Suffolk's food laws are really strict and they would have shut him down by now..

They were 15 tails for $20.
