HAS ANYONE EVER COOKED TOFU??

This guy at my job brought in 2 pkgs for me, a firm one and a soft one. I am going to try to make one tonight with curry chicken. If anyone has made it and has any good recipe please do share. Thanks

Re: HAS ANYONE EVER COOKED TOFU??

Make sure you pat it really well with paper towels to get all of the water out of it. This also the tofu to get browned when cooking it. I would just put it in a frying pan with some oil and brown both sides. It will take a while. Use the firm one, I think it is better than the soft tofu.

He told me to do that as well, he said the soft one goes better with sauces. Thanks

Re: HAS ANYONE EVER COOKED TOFU??

tofu will take on the flavor of whatever you are cooking it with...so curry should be good...
I also mash it up and make meatless balls with it...

Dh made so many faces when I told him I was cooking him tofu...but now he loves it

I try to get extra firm and mash with oregano, mozz cheese, parm cheese, salt, pepper

then I fry it with a little olive oil

The girl at work, says she usually sautees it with vegies and seasoning. I eat for lunch but as is with an apple

Re: HAS ANYONE EVER COOKED TOFU??

Shamma, you can also make chili with it, just use tofu instead of meat.

Also, the soft tofu is good for making smoothies (in a blender, but I don't remember the ingredients, I know some fruit can go but not sure what else)
