Has anyone ever gained weight on YAZ?

I remember when i first started looking into BCPs, my gyno told me that weight gain is NOT one of the side effects of Yaz. That's VERY important to me (since i used to be very overweight and dare not go back there).

My friend also started Yaz a couple months before me and neither of us experienced any side effects at all, which was awesome. HOWEVER - about month ago, she calls and tells me that she's getting off of it asap because it's been making her crazy emotional during her periods (she was already a mess, so this just intensified it). She was also putting on a lot of weight suddenly. I wasn't sure if she could blame it on the BC tho, since that's not supposed to be a side effect. But as soon as she went off it, she claims to have been losing weight so much easier. Strange.

So now i'm wondering. I've had no crazy mood swings (at least no more than usual). But my weight feels out of control. I'm prone to gaining weight if I'm not careful, but usually if I work out then I'm fine. Lately I've been really exercising hard and it just does not seem to make a difference. I've put on like10 pounds now since my wedding (almost 2 months ago). Hmmm....

So now I'm thinking - since my friend started to see that weight gain after a few months, maybe it's doing the same thing with me now. What do you think?

Has anybody ever gained weight on YAZ? I'm thinking of getting off of it for a little while and seeing what happens. Either way I'll keep working out. I mean, it DOES help. I still lose weight, just not as much as I did before.

I have been on YAZ for a year now and love it...I actually lost weight on it once I switched onto I mean from another bc

I do sometimes get moody when I have my period but otherwise I never noticed a gain in weight. but then again I flucuate as well sometimes with my weight...but only but 3-5 lbs

wow, i could have wrote those exact words, except i'm on the Ortho Evra patch. I gained 10 pounds since being on it, and i can't get rid of it. Like you said, exercising helps, but if i stop, all of the weight comes back in like two days! I was thinking about going off of the patch for a while to see if it made a difference, but dh was annoyed that i would not be on BC, which i understand. We're so not ready to have a baby, so i don't want to go off of it yet. I'm going to go back to running in a few weeks, so i'm hoping to get results then. It's frustrating cuz i don't know if it really is the BC thats making it hard to lose weight!

The Patch is exactly what made me gain weight in the end of HS beginning of college. My gyno told me to switch once they had the health scares. I lost 10-12 lbs after I stopped using hte Patch. I loved that I ddin't have to remember taking a pill but I love not having that extra weight on me now. I would never recommend the patch to anyone who is worried about weight gain. I would talk to your doctor when you see them.

Thank you, that just motivated me to switch! i just recently got health insurance when i got married, and i've been so lazy with finding a GYNO. I need to get on this so i can lose the weight before the summer.

Yaz is a pill that you take everyday? I don't know if i trust myself with a pill, my schedule is always changing. Did your doctor recommend anything else besides Yaz?
