Re: Has anyone seen the Orphanage?

he just got in - From Dave:

It's not gory - it's more like BOO there's something there, creepy. He only thought it was okay - as far as scary - it's the type of movie that I personally hate - mind f movies are what we call them...

if you don't like creepy kid type, atmoshpheric horror - stay away - otherwise it's not bad, it's watchable.

It'll make you steer clear of adoption he says....

you're very welcome!

DEFINITELY stay away if you don't like the mind f movies!!!

What i find helps me though - when i watch a movie like that and i'm feeling anxious - take a benadryl before bed (or a sleeping pill).

I have night terrors...but the doc said i don't have them enough to put me on something every day...but if i'm feeling anxious - to take benadryl because it'll put me into REM sleep sooner & apparently nightmares/dreams take place in the first stages of sleep... Maybe that'll help you too!!!

sounds like me! i seriously had to stop watching those type of movies, bc i realized how bad they were contributing to horrible anxiety! definitely pick and choose what ill watch now and it definitely helps. and again, a few yrs ago, i could watch anything and everything. once i saw the movie 'Saw' and 'Hostel' and those...that was it. Can NOT watch those.

ive never even heard of this movie tho! i need to look up whose in it.

Re: Has anyone seen the Orphanage?

i saw that movie about 2 weeks ago, watched it alone in the living room, in the dark. yeah, i was scared. there's a character that reminded me of a character in The Strangers, and that was scary enough. Overall, it was a really good movie, you will cry at the end, it's just very creepy and keeps you guessing. It's a bit reminiscent of Pan's Labyrinth (which I LOVED), but I think The Orphanage aims to be more creepy, and Pan's was a lot more involved.

PS: A potato sack over anyone's face is creepy!

Yea it was really creepy. i can deal with slasher films better than ones like this. But its a good film. I dont like anything to do with kids in creepy films-ups the creep factor for me.

Actually I have a funyn story about kids lol.

I amHispanic and as a rule, we're superstitious and belive in all demons and devils and whatevr. Catholic guilt and all of that lol.

I also have to premise this by saying ym family is out of their minds.

Anyway my cousin was mm 10 or so? She sleep talks which we know but this time she SLEPT WALKED right out to where we were sleepign (staying over at my Aunts and I was in her room) and she walked over to the bed and just stood there. I wake up and see her standing there with her long hair over her face looking like the puerto rican version of the little girl from the ring.

Its like 12:30 in the morning. So I gently wake my aunt and tell her to shush because you're not supposed to wake a sleepwalker. Now I have to insert here my aunt has BAD nerve issues. Like anxiety through the roof. The type of person who believes that the garbage bags on the sides of highways actualyl contain body parts and can work herself into an anxiety attack over it.

So now take this woman and a creepy kid at 12:30 am. I get up and put my hand over my cousins's shoulders gently to walk her back to her room and she shakes em off and throws her head back and starts talking gibberish.

My aunt starts freakign out so she telsl ehr to go back to bed. My cousin turns, faces the mirror on the wall and starts pullign at her own hair and then running ehr hands down her hips muttering in spanish sayign. 'Miro que flaco estoy. Soy flaco. Soy FLACO!!!'

She wasy saying 'Look how skinny I am. I am so skinny etc tec.' Doesn't sound creepy but in spanish you use different endings for men and women; feminine is A, Masculine is O. She was referring to her in the masculine sense.

The kid was DEAD asleep. She didn't know what she was saying but she was getting more and mroe agitated like the Excorcist kid and mu aunt loses it. JUMPS out of bed and starts shaking ehr by the shoulders to wake her up. Of course the kid is now shaken out out of sleep so she gets scared sh!tless and starts making this AWFUL noise; like she was too scared to screwm so it was this hollow soundign wails like wooooooong.

CREEP as sh!t which doesn't help the situation any. My other cousin wakes up and starts shrieking and basically all hell breaks loose for awhile. My aunt got a tranquilizer and a cup of tea. My cousins got cookies and soda-nothing liek a little caffeine to excorcise any demons.
