Has anyone used the cake box thing from Lillian Vernon?

Did you find it to be secure enough that you weren't worried about the $$$?

nope. We used a card bag (same one my parents used at their wedding). I put my aunt on charge of holding on to it (she hurt her foot so wasn't moving around much anyway & it made her feel important).

Just wanted to tell you that you can make your own if you want. My mom made one for us out of hat boxes and it came out beautiful.

I am afraid making my own will be too much hassle and not worth it b/c by the time i buy the hat boxes and nice paper, I may end up being out the same $30

I made my own and nobody touched it all night! I didn't feel that it was unsafe

Jenhos, where did you get supplies? And what kind of covering did you use?

I got everything at Michaels. I used 3 difernt size boxes. I painted them white and used silk flowers and ribbon to decorate it. I think the whole thing cost me about $10.00 (if that) It was not as beautiful as Lillian Vernons but it served the purpose!

I made my own from boxes I had. Just wrapped them with silver wrapping paper and done. I just made another for my friend who is getting married in July...She was actually going to get the L&V box but we went to the outlet and saw it there....IMO it was crap...here is a pic of what mine looked like...

Here it is. One of the ribbons was caught in the bottom but you get the idea. The bottom box is a littl disproportioned with the others but you could cut it or get a different size. Do search there are instructions out there somewhere. Let me know if you have questions

Claudine made one for me as a shower gift and I loved it so much I used it at my wedding as a card holder.
