Has things change for the better with your MIL now that you are married

Hey ladies ,

I thought I would spice up the boards alittle. So being that we have been married for awhile now, is your MIL treating you alot better after all of the planning is put aside? My MIL has been wonderful to me even before DH and I have walked down the aisle. I live across the street from my in laws and its pretty cool, I tell DH all the time if we could go over and hang out, he laughs at me. I love chilling with her and having a glass or two of wine and BS about anything

Me too! In fact yesterday I went to have dinner with her for her birthday while DH was out gallivanting the town (he had made other arrangements so couldn't join us... His loss ).

We were talking not too long ago about how well I get along with his mother now that the wedding is over. There was a point while we were dating that I didn't think she liked me very much, but apparently she was just 'testing me' LOL

I am so glad that we get along so great. She's the mother I never had!

Things have stayed the same. We still have an amicable relationship. But I'm VERY outspoken, ans she now understands that more than ever. I guess you can say, she knows where I stand. But for the most part.......we get along well.

i would say yes...she seems much more relaxed now that the wedding is over...i think she was extremely worried my dh and i would do something wrong when we planned the wedding...but you know a mother in law is always an in law...but overall she is fine

The same....she is a wonderful women and I love her dearly, but DH is NOT close to his family and we only see them about 3 x a year.......I am calling her next week to set up lunch with her, my mom, and myself. My inlaws are great people, but VERY religous(?) My fil is a lutheran(?) minister and mil is a lutheran(?) school teacher. I have never met my 2 sil's and 1 bil........I want the relationship to progress....I don;t want to just send flowers on Mother's Day or call every couple of months.....I WANT to be a part of there life and I know they feel the same way, but would never push the issue

You're very lucky!! I get along with my MIL although not all that great.
for example: DH & I went to Splish Splash on Monday, I got really sunburnt andmy suit bottoms burned my legs. I didn't want to get out of the car and say hello b/c she was bringing things into the firehouse and shes also sick. She through a s**t ft in front of me to DH & FIL pointing and whatnot, then demanded me come over.
I got told this the other day: At our RD just before church, she turned around to FIL and her mother and said 'I don't why he's doing this, I don't how she could make him happy'

YES!!!!!! My MIL hated me during the planning process...now she's my BFF! I guess she figures she's stuck with me, so might as well make the best of it!
