Has this happened to you re: friends after you are married?

Ok so I feel like since I've been married, my single friends dont want anything to do with me. Ive tried to make plans, keep in touch, and all that but they seem to not want to do anything with me anymore. I know people always talk about how married ladies tend to ignore their single friends and do more couples things with spouses, but its the reverse for me.

It makes me sad because I always considered them my really good friends, even had them in my wedding party, and it hurts. One basically said flat out that we are both heading in different directions in life so we wont be as close as we used to be, which really hurt. I know we wont be going out bar hopping like we used to, but not to talk on the phone, or even go out to dinner or bar hop oncei n awhile? I just dont know.

Anyone else going through this? Any words of wisdom?

not so much me, but def. my hubby. whenever he complains, his friend tells him ' we do bad things, Im trying to keep you good, you are married' bla blabla. 1/2 my girls are married or in very serious relationships. the other 1/2 party it up a lot. i would say that my single friends gave me boot about 4 years ago, once they saw the hubby and I ( boyfriend at thetime) were spending too much time together. they would still ask me out every now and again, but they stopped once they saw that I didnt make it most of the time. now i am lucky if i get invited three times a year.

I haven't really had this experience, but I did lose one friend because she was in a toxic relationship and she was jealous of DH and I. On top of that I tried to say something to her about how she was hurting herself (also a history of eating disorders, etc. there) and she flipped out. So now we're not friends, and I'm a little upset, but overall it's ok because she brought a lot of unnecessary drama to my life (including me not even having a bachelorette party because half way through dinner we had to take her to the hospital for alcohol poisoning).

yeap, specially because they are not in that point of their life where they are not in a serious relationship. Also the fact that now I am Out of state, I try to keep in touch and I call and everything but they dont call back or even send a Txt

I think it has to do with their single status and they're still trying to find someone out there. Also, it's harder for single gals to go out with married gals since they fear they might have to watch and protect their gals from getting hit on. Also, another thing that I tend to notice is unmarried people really don't care about wedding planning or photos, etc. esp if they are not the one who is experiencing the moment themselves. After awhile, it annoys them b/c it's become an overrated subject. I don't think I had lost any friends but it definitely changed our relationship due to the fact that I'm married and singled out. And that goes for going out with the ladies or having lunch with some of my close guy friends. People just seem to have this fear that when you're married, you're on lock down or leash. In the meantime, maybe it's time to expand your social circle and find people who can support and understand/relate to you.
