i noticed someone posted on LIF that they had a sex consequence talk with their son...and i was wondering if anyone here has had to have 'the talk' with their own child or maybe a younger sibling....niece...nephew. not just students in your classroom or anything--i mean someone who you've watched grow up!
i had 'the talk' with my 16 yr old niece this past summer---thought my head would explode when she asked if it 'hurts' the first time.
and 2 wks ago--DH and i had a talk with his 11 and 15 yr old sisters. to my shock and dismay the 15 yr old said one of her friends who is 14....was heading for her SECOND abortion already. :faint

I went out iwth my brother and his friends when they wer 18 and we went to the dizzy lizard by hofstra..... i thought i was going to fall over when my brother and his friend told me they thought sex was over rated lol

Ive talked to my 15 year old brother about it and it was a little weird. we are soooo close tho but still it was so weird. i hope he took me seriously cause i tried to put it out there joking to make it more fun. I'll kill him if he gets a girl PG before he is the age of 30 LOL J/K

i told my niece that i would answer whatever she asked---but in no WAY did that mean i condoned her doing it. but i figured i might as well educate her so she knows stuff...vs. listening to her stupid friends.

i've actually had 'the talk' (lol) with my younger cousin and also a bunch of young girls i used to mentor at a counseling center.... the age that i find some of them become sexually active always shocks me no matter how many times i hear it... kids that are in 6TH GRADE?!?! that means your 11/12?? although they do say that almost 70%of highschool kids are staying abstinent these days which i think is pretty cool...
but yea - the 'talk' is always interesting...ESPECIALLY when it's family!

i was the same way with my brother. im so sscared for him lol he is a smart boy but everyone makes mistakes and i PRAY he doesnt make a mistake like getting a girl PG to young. i want to be an aunt but not that bad LOL not yet

I have. Its not a big deal for me. It something kids need to know. Its part of growing up and I see nothing wrong with it.

I'm still waiting to get the talk.
Everything was explained to me by the class slutt freshman year of high school. Up until that point I thought oral sex was when you talk about it like phone sex .

I didn't get into the whole psychology of sex... and how you should respect yourself... He's eight.. it'll sink in for a second and then he'll see something shiny and forget... hah.
but I just asked him if he knew how babies were made and pretty much explained the biology of it. wee wee and pee pee basic ish...
Suffice to say, he was a little grossed out but also a little embarrased so I think he already *knew*
I'm going to start talking to him about respecting himself and girls soon though... b/c you dont even KNOW what he already (thinks) he knows.
it's terrifying...

Not yet, but I know it's coming sooner or later! My 2 year old has already asked me how we can get a 'real' baby. Boy was it fun trying to explain that mommy & daddy have to make the baby & then it has to grow in mommy's belly. When daddy came home that night she asked him if we could make a baby for her If she's this curious at 2, I think I'm in trouble!
