Kauai was pretty but I wish I spent more time in Maui. We stayed at the Grand Hyatt.

Re: Hawaii...

We went there for our HM and we lovvvvved it (Dh had been there before). We stayed at the Hyatt on Oahu, Maui and Kuaui. The Hyatt has an island hopper special where if you go to at least two different islands and stay for at least 5 days total, you get free breakfast It's beautiful and so much to do....here's a partial list of what we did on each island!!!!

Oahu: hiked up Diamondback Mountain, went shopping at the International Marketplace (great deals on jewelry), went to Waikiki Beach. We were only there for a couple of days total, we landed there and took off to go back from there. Oahu is more like a small city, not like you picture Hawaii to be.

Maui: Drove the Road to Hana, went jetskiing, hiking, went to Mount Haleokula to see the sunrise and rode bikes down the mountain
Beautiful...this island is how most picture Hawaii to be!!!

Kauai: Hiked Waimea Canyon, took a sunset boat dinner tour of the Na'Pali coast, saw the Spouting Horn (blowholes) and sea turtles. Kuai is different in that it's quieter and very very lush.

Have a great time. I'm jealous, I want to go back

Re: Hawaii...

I have been to Hawaii quite a few times (DH's family lives there). If you go to Oahu you really do need to get out of Waikiki that is where the real Hawaii is, it really does exist there. You do not have to stay on the Waikiki strip. Let me know if you stay there for a few days and I can tell you the restaurants and beaches to hit up (Oahu has the best beaches)

Maui-I went there last year and stayed at the Sheraton Kanapali Beach Hotel. Yes, Kaanapali is the best beach in Maui, the other ones did not match Oahu at all.

I have also been to Kauai and DH can provide you with information on other islands b/c his my 'big Hawaiian'.

HTH but FM for more details

Re: Hawaii...

dh and i went several years ago on vacation and wanted to see a lot of islands so we chose a tour company called Cosmos. We saw 4 islands (maui, oahu, the big island, and kauai) and the tour was fantastic. they take care of all island transfers, hotels, help with excursion booking and you get a bus tour of each of the islands upon arrival. We totally loved it because all you have to do is show up, they take care of everything.

Some people may not like being on vacation with a bunch of other people (many were older folks) but we didnt mind one bit. it made it more fun.

We loved Hawaii!

Our favorite place was Kauai and we stayed at the Grand Hyatt which was absolutely gorgeous! I highly reccommend it!

We also went to Maui and a few days in Oahu. We liked Maui but weren't thrilled with the Hyatt there. I think if we could have stayed in a different hotel, we would have liked it better.

We went to the Big Island and stayed at the Haupena Prince. It was simply amazing! It was georgeous and had an awesome beach. Volcano National Park is also on that island so we drove the whole island- saw rainbow falls and a few other beautiful sites along the way. We ate dinne at one of the towns at a cute local restaurant that was recommended to us by the guy at the car rental company. I definitly recomend going there.

We also went to Oahu and stayed in Waikikki but we went up to visit the North Shore and that was great. If we go back, we are going to stay up that way at the Turtle Bay Resort.

We went to kaua'i and maui. In Kaua'i we stayed at the grand hyatt and it was amazing. We loved it there. We went to maui and stayed at the fairmont kea lani and then wanted to go back to kaua'i. We hated our hotel, I do not recommend the fairmont. We ate at a restaurant in the four seasons because it was next door to our hotel and it was a lot nicer.

Re: Hawaii...

We really enjoyed the north coast of Kauai, for the scenery and the authenticity of the architecture. I also enjoyed my time in Maui on the south shore and at the Hotel Hana-Maui in Hana.
Since this is an anniversary not a HM, maybe try a b and b or condo?
