Hawaii Question
My husband and I are looking to plan a trip to either Maui or Kauai for our one yr. anniversary. We are only going for a week (those days of taking off 2 weeks for a trip are gone :( )For those of you who have gone to Hawaii on your hm which island would you recommend Maui or Kauai and why. I was pushing more for Maui w/ a day trip to Oahu.
Also, has anyone stayed at or heard anythign about the Sheraton in maui or on Kauai or anything about the outrigger resorts?
Thanks for your help.

Re: Hawaii Question
We just went back and stayed on Kauai. That woulld be my choice over Maui (spent a week on Maui a few years ago).I found Kauai much more lush & exotic (and very romantic). But it all depends on your preferences & what you want to do while there. You won't find much nightlife on Kauai, but we were there for the beauty of the island (beaches, hikes, waterfalls, caves, etc).
You can still do a day trip to Oahu - I think Oahu is right between Kauai and Maui.

Re: Hawaii Question
I agree with Lisa! Everyone raved to me about Maui before we went to Hawaii, but I was much more impressed with Kauai. It is so naturally beautiful!! I would LOVE to go back there!!

Re: Hawaii Question
It depends on what you are looking to do there. Kauai is beautiful!! Maui is pretty too but there is more to do (more nightlife, more dining options). I just got back from Hawaii 2 weeks ago and DH and I both said when we go back we would stay on Maui for the entire time. The Sheraton hotels on Maui and Kauai are beautiful.

Re: Hawaii Question
Just got back from both two days ago. If you're looking for a more laid back quiet vacation Kauai is your best bet. If you're looking for more activities type vaca then I'd go with Maui. We went to a Luau at the Marriott Outrigger Resort in Wailea in Maui and the hotel was really nice. I think a day trip to Oahu is a great idea we wanted to do that but just didn't get a chance!

Re: Hawaii Question
I found there was so much to do on Kauai, but it all depends on what it is you want to do. Tons of hiking, snorkeling, kayaking, beaching. Our Kauai vacation was relaxing, but we were very ACTIVE.

Re: Hawaii Question
i agree with what everyone already said. i've only been to kauai and that's the place to go if you want to relax or if you enjoy lots of hiking (do the kalalau trail i hear it's awesome!)i stayed at the sheraton while we were there and i loved it. it's absolutely gorgeous, the beach is really nice, so are the pools. rooms are nice as well. and the breakfast buffet every morning was really good.

Re: Hawaii Question
We went for our honeymoon to kuaui, oahu, maui.I am torn b/w kuaui and maui but I think Kuaui is much more tropical than maui so I would choose Kuaui.
Definitely do a day trip to Oahu, I didnt care for it b/c it was too city. Definitely see pearl harbor.
We stayed at the Hyatt on Kuaui - gorgeous!!!! And we met a lot of couples on maui that were there too and loved it.
Enjoy!!

Re: Hawaii Question
We went to Hawaii for our first anniversary too.... I don't know which one to recommend to you... Maui is more touristy, while Kauai is a lot more laid back and feels like you are in paradise. They are both beautiful, but if I was to go back, I'd probably pick Kauai.Welcome New Vendors
