Headache

Headache

Ugh! I have had a migraine since Sunday and I am so frustrated! It is better tonight- Please say a little prayer that it goes away before I have to see the Dr. tomorrow. I am maxed out on migraine meds and now I am taking a course of steroids but if it does not go away I am going to have to get a nerve block (5 injections) or worse go to the ER. I see my headache specialist tomorrow...he is going to schedule a couple of tests to rule out anything terrible and discuss what to do next. I have tried so many preventative meds and I am sick of feeling like a science experiment. I was doing so well w/o medicine and lack of sleep and stress has messed everthing up

Re: Headache

I am back from the Dr. with less pain but still feeling lousey- I had to get a nerve block which was not as bad as the anticipation of getting it but still 8 needles 3 in my face and 5 in my head was rather unpleasant. With any luck I should be back to normal by Sunday. I am starting a new preventivie medicine that will hopefully help without too many ill effects.

I knew someone who had bad migraines and they did acupuncture and it helped them...maybe you could look into that.

Dont take this the wrong way but have you tried Botox.....not for the normal celebrity type reasons but I have read lots on it and it is supposed to help. I have Migraines and havent tried the botox yet but I also only get them a few times a year. Also there is an experiemental surgery so hopefully one day we can be free of them completely.

I have considered trying Botox. I actually discussed it with my Dr. today again and plan to contact my insurance company. The office visit is covered but the Botox is usually not covered. The injections are usually given every 3-4 months. My Dr. said he has had really good succes with Botox. I haven't heard of the surgery option but will look it up...although I would probably never do it.

I work in a Neurology office and we do the Trigger Point Injections and the Botox for Headaches. The going rate for Botox right now is $100 a vial. Everyone that we talk to that does it absolutely loves it. I've considered talking to my doctor about it bc I'm on a preventative medicine and it's starting to not work so well for me anymore.
