Hummmm I sometimes make egg beaters with shred low fat ched for breakfast and take it to work with me or those Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches that are low fat, I just take the english muffin off and they are delish. I also love the no sugar added fruit cups for snacks at work or almonds...

Re: Healthy meal Ideas???

breakfast- I usually do cereal & fruit- sorry nothing inventive here

lunch- i do different wraps- usually based on dinner the night before- we had chicken last night, so I put some wing sauce & light blue cheese with the chicken and had a side salad

i also do crust-less quiche and make it with egg beaters and usually buy the progressive 1 point soup

dinners- meatloaf with fake mashed potatoes (I steam cauliflower & mash it)

last night- I made chicken with garlic sauce & served it over spinach for myself & over pasta for DH (he's skinny & eats like a horse )

Re: Healthy meal Ideas???

with the exception of the last couple of weeks, i've been following a pretty easy plan (from a book i read) to eat healthy and i actually like the food! some of the things i like best are:

breakfast:
protein shake (this usually consists of fruit, protein, almonds, agave nectar)
omlette with low fat cheese and fruit on the side
canadian bacon with eggs and grapefruit

lunch:
caesar salad with homemade dressing and grilled chicken
cottage cheese and fruit
egg salad
chef's salad and fruit
chicken salad and fruit

dinner:
chili
chicken and veggie kabobs (this is my fav)
pork chops
grilled burger made with extra lean beef and pearl barley

most of these things are out of the book i am following. if you want more info, feel free to FM. the concept is to eat a fat, carb and protein at every meal. HTH!

I think I may have posted this one before:

take around 1lb of thin cut chicken breasts and sprinkle with salt, pepper, basil and oregano. Put them in a 9x13 pyrex. take a can of diced tomatoes and drain a can of olives dump both on top of the chicken. Sprinkle a little bit of olive oil on top. Bake in a 350 preheated oven for 30-40 minutes or until the chicken is done

I usually won't eat veggies either. I've discovered a way of masking them. I melt butter in a frying pan, add olive oil and garlic. Then I put bread crumbs in the pan and brown them a little. Add the veggis (asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, greenbeans) and cover and let the food steam.

As far as food you can eat while you're in school. Chicken cutlets in bulk, veggie lasagna, whole wheat ziti, turkey burgers, turkey meatloaf.

There's a healthy cook on food network that sometimes will sneak veggies into her meal and supposedly you can't even tell the difference. She made a mac and cheese dish that looked delicious but it had 2 whole servings of squash in it. You could get sneaky

be careful with alot of things that say fat free or any of those substitute type things. They can just end up being worse for you. In order for it to be fat free they have to put more chemicals so thats not good, and not only that but your body does not know how to break these things down so youre better off eating the real thing in almost every case

some healthy meals i used to make, should start again lol

grilled salmon, or you can even bake or broil it. Salmon is great for you and you can do it with veggies, either steamed or sauteed. You can always squeeze some lemon and put pepper on the veggies for flavor, even throw in some garlic. But most grilled fish would be good not just salmon. You can even do grilled shrimp, or do shrimp skewers.

I also like chicken skewers.

You can also eat a grilled steak. You should have a combo of things and certain percentage of protein, starch, veggies. So do just grilled steak with veggies.

Do like chicken fajitas, you can buy the whole wheat bread for it and grill the chicken and add tomatoes, lettuce, green and red peppers and a little bit of cheese is good for you, and throw some salsa on there

I love turkey burgers, they even have turkey cutlets.

sounds like a good idea.

Oh he doesnt eat any seafood huh. What about buyin chicken and baking it. You can buy cornish hens, and you can make cooked carrots and stuff with it, well dh loves cooked carrots but you can make it with whatever you two like. But if you want to eat fish make yourself the fish and make your Dh like steak or pork chops with the same veggies

oh i think i did have chicken burgers before, they were good.
