HELP HELP HELP HELP HELP

DH and I are soooooooooooooooooo sick!!!

This flu is ridiculous!!!

I'm dealing with all of my 20 symptoms but one that I can't deal with is my coughing!!!

It's a dry cough that can't be controlled with any amount of meds.

Are there any home remedies that you ladies have tried to to treat coughing? Any OTC meds that I maybe haven't yet tried?

Thank you sooo much!

My abs are killing me from coughing so much

What about trying to get to the doctor to get prescription cough meds ... I think they put tylenol with coedine in there, which should help with the pain & the sleeping.

If you're congested too, a really hot shower can help clear you up even if only for a short time.

I'm so sorry you guys are both sick with this awful flu

ETA: can you just prescribe yourself some cough meds?

Honey.
Just take a teaspoon of honey and swallow it slowly, letting it slide down your throat.
It coats it and calms the coughing, especially if it is a dry one.

If you get a humidifier, get the warm mist one.
The cool mist one runs with filters and I find they get moldy rather quickly. Filters are expensive.
Also the cool mist runs on a fan which can be noisy.

Yes buy Propolis. It is a natural resin and antibiotic created by bees. It boostens your immune system and will really help your cough. It comes in a little bottle, and is dark brown and sticky. Put 20-30 drops of it in a tablespoon of water and swallow it. You can buy at a vitamin store, i buy it at Whole Foods Supermarket.

A home remedy that also works take warm water with one teaspoon of honey and with 1 tablespoon of apple cider and mix. Drink that up to three times a day when youre sick. It really helps.

Re: HELP HELP HELP HELP HELP

Ev-I know you are the doctor, but I am going to give you just about the best advice that a layperson can give-GO SEE A DOCTOR!

I had what you are talking about (this is actually a sore point in my life so to speak, because from this, I was diagnosed with RA)

Mine was walking pneumonia, but I coughed so hard at one point that I ripped a muscle. It was the worst pain that I had ever experienced to that point.

If you are not allergic to codeine, you definitely want that as a cough suppresant, because you can rip a muscle or even break a rib from the coughing. I was there. There is absolutely nothing over the counter that will stop it if it is bad enough to hurt your abs.

The only home thing I can think of is cleaning your sinuses (if your cough is coming from a post nasal drip)-They sell this pump looking thing called salt aire (i think)-it is in a box but a blue bottle with a nozzle. They also have something called a neti pot. It literally feels as if you got pool water up your nose, but it cleanses your sinuses and if your cough is from a drip, it will help.

But that is not how you are describing it. You should be careful.

Feel better love!

Re: HELP HELP HELP HELP HELP

I have a handy dandy German housewife's guide from 1953.

It states that for dry cough, blackcurrant juice taken by the teaspoon, should quiet the cough.

You can also drink elderberry tea, or a tea made from fresh stinging nettles.

Teaspoon of honey is also good.

For a cough due to congestion, drink the juice of one lemon mixed with honey.
