I'm in the process of buying a new computer. Mine just shuts off when it wants. I will only buy Dell. My biggest problem is I can't decide between a laptop or a desktop. I had a laptop through college. Then I bought the desktop I have now. Now I don't know what I want. So tell me what you have...

I don't think I will ever buy a desktop again, I love laptops, we currently have 3. 2 HP's and a Dell. They are both great.

I prefer laptops. This way I can bring it with me wherever I go. I spend a lot of time on the internet so the laptop works better for me.

Re: Help me pick
mmmmm vaio duo core with kick@ss graphics card.....
love, I repeat my laptop!!!!!
I should add that the only time I could rationalize having a desktop is if you either ARE or are married to a computer geek who can build / upgrade your tower during a coffee break. If that is the case, forget purchasing one of those cr@p pre-fab desktops.... drop-kick geek boy onto the newegg site and get yourself REAL tower (a case / processor / hardrive / graphicscard / heat sink and other accesories) that will rival only the tower of babel in its threat to society
(DH has one of those.... it is twice as powerful with its graphics / processor / heat sink as even the most expensive pre-assembled tower.... and only cost about $2600. total gaming heaven for him... best part about it? unlike prefab towers that are awkwardly sealed up in their case, you can easily upgrade the independent components of a self-assembled towers.... for only a couple hundred $$. DH's supercomputer is so amusing. it pulses its little blue lights like it has a heartbeat... I try to stay on its 'good side' since I sleep in the same room as it )

Depends on what you're intentions are with it.. If you can use it for work, you might wanna get the laptop bc it's just too convienient.. But if you're really only using it for home you might wanna get a desktop- they're much easier and cheaper to upgrade than a laptop would be

I agree. It really depends on what you need it for. DH is a programmer and I'm a designer, we have 3 desktops and a laptop and a giant bookshelf full of equipment.

Re: Help me pick
I have a laptop and LOVE it. Love that I can use it in the living room or bedroom, move between places, take it somewhere if I need to, etc etc. But I'm the kind of person that hates to be tied to a desk while at home.
While we were planning the wedding, I LIVED on my laptop at home - I'd have it on my lap, wherever I was, even if I was watching tv or whatever. Or I'd have it in bed with me so I could be comfy while chatting on LIW or while researching something or whatever. No way I could have done that with a desktop.

Re: Help me pick
We have both. But I prefer the desk top. They tend to come with more memory.
