so my nephew had surgery today... he is okay and I think it went well but it still ***** - he's only four.

anyway, I want to send him something but I don't know what and where to order it. He's at Schneider's Children's hospital near LIJ.

Any suggestions welcome. TIA

Aw, I'm sorry to hear that! What about a Vermont Teddy Bear (edited for correction) or pajama gram? The bears are so cute and they have all different themes.

thanks... i thought of the VT teddy bear but wanted something that would make him smile or laugh, something different from balloons, candy or stuffed animals. I'm so not creative with this stuff!

I'm afraid I may not be much better. I'll try and think some more though. Is there anything specific he likes?

my friend suggested something similar - but I have NO idea where to find one and don't know yet what shape he is; my sister is kind of a mess and won't call me back yet. I guess I can bring something when I go see him tomorrow, but i thought it would be nice for him to get a delivery. I know he was scared to go to the hospital so that they didn't even really tell him he was going in...

[sigh, I'm so bummed at the thought of him there.

Gigi - he loves the incredibles. He thinks he's a super-hero (gets that from his mom and favorite aunt )

thanks for your suggestions girls

Maybe there is a place that has someone dress up like that, you know like Elmo? My cousin always had different characters at her childrens' birthday parties. If you want, I can try and ask her who she used...I think it was the same place all the time.

Re: help - need suggestions

Just got this note from my sister. it's not bad news but I'm so sad for him... and her and my bro-in-law.

We are waiting for a room. He is in and out of sleepiness. Some of his comments today so far,

This morning instead of hearing we're going to go get better now he heard we're going to a party now (hey it was 5:30 am). He said I didn't know we had a party to go to. What about isabella?
Changing into his scrubs he broke down and cried I don't want to do this.
I never want to go to the hospital again. I didn't know it was going to be like this.
Tell the nurse to get this off of me.

Sorry guys, it's my first nephew in surgery. And i KNEW he was scared. and he's so little.

How about a teddy bear or a toy? coloring books? Does he have a DS? Maybe you can pick him up a new game for that. If you have a portable DVD player bring it in and bring him his favorite movie/cartoon.

Hope he gets better soon.

this is adorable thanks - and he loves trains! only problem is they don't ship to hospitals, and to ship it to his home so he gets it by friday is $30! Ugh, I guess I shouldn't have waited this long but you never know with surgery - I didn't want to presume that everything would be okay.

Good idea. I was thinking of the DS games too...they all seem to love them.
