HELP With booking honeymoon tomorrow!
We are getting married 04/24/04. We are taking the 1st half of our honeymoon right away and that is booked in my maiden name since two days will not be enough to get the name change done. Here is my question - sorry - We want to book the 2nd half of the honeymoon tomorrow - a cruise - we are going August 21, 2004. Will that be enough time to get a new drivers license in my married name and a passport in my married name? Or do I need to book in my maiden name - I would like to do the name change right away BUT want to know if that will be enough time- b/c if it isn't I don't want to take a chance and will book in maiden name.
How long did it take to get your passport and drivers license in your married name?
I'm sorry I don't ask questions here but I need the answer ASAP and you all are the experts!

Re: HELP With booking honeymoon tomorrow!
I think you should use your maiden nameMV wont give you a new license till you show them your marriage certificate anyway
I used my maiden name coming and going from the HM and my old license

Re: HELP With booking honeymoon tomorrow!
its just better to be safe than sorry lolwhen you book, you will be your maiden name and if you book w/ your credit card, they will question the name being different, I dont know
Maybe its enough time but I would just use my maiden and bring the old and new license w/ me if you have your new one by then

Re: HELP With booking honeymoon tomorrow!
You probably will be able to get everything changed if all goes smoothly and you do it ASAP after you get your license. But why deal with that hassle?I would book everything in your maiden name and then have your name changed at your convienence. Otherwise you will be stressing when the marriage certificate doesnt arrive on time or the DMV messes up or you just dont have time to make the changes right away.

Re: HELP With booking honeymoon tomorrow!
Ok - then here is a second question - my passport expires 3 weeks after the cruise and they are a pain about passports not expiring within 6 months of the cruise - so if I'm not doing the name change immediately should I renew the passport now?

Where is the cruise going? Many of the carribbean cruises dont even require a passport.
