Ok so now that Christmas is over I can concentrate on DH's 30th--- We are having a restaurant party for immediate family and then dessert with extended family back at our house-- I need gift suggestions and want to put together something fun--so this is where I need all of those creative minds-- I want to give him 30 presents-- 30 pieces of candy, 29 BBQ skewers, 28 etc--- He is really into cooking-- but that is about it---I think the #1 gift will be a DVD player-- so I want to do the rest without spending tons of money-- Any suggestions---throw them all out there--coming up with 30 different things is tough--now the kicker HIs birthday is Jan 5th so of course I am running out of time!!!! HELP!!!!! Thanks Laura

Re: Help with DH's 30th Birthday
If he's really into cooking, why not get him a cooking lesson at William Sonoma or a local restaurant (my brother just did this for our Dad for Christmas). Then, you can present him with a gift basket that has an apron (a masculine one! ), a chef's hat, cooking utensils, oven mitts, a men's cookbook, etc.
Or, you can get him tickets to attend a taping of Emeril Lagasse Live.
Other non-cooking related ideas: digital camera or video, DVD writable drive or player, sports tickets. Good luck and have fun with this!

Re: Help with DH's 30th Birthday
Hmmm, thats a cute idea ! Is this a surprise ? What about -golf tees (if he plays golf, of course ! ) -a few pairs of socks ? -2-3 dvd's for his new dvd player! (those can get expensive!) -bottles of spices to cook with ? -2 tickets to something (for both of you ) -cooking wine
I'll try to think of some more.....

How about 30 silver dollars glued to a board in the shape of a '30'; a case of soda (24 I think); a package of gum (5 sticks of gum in a package, I think), a box of breakfast bars (I don't know how many are in there), etc....

Re: Help with DH's 30th Birthday
A package of hot dogs & buns A package of hamburgers & buns
Favorite recipes from a specific number of guests you can count on to provide this .. using special recipe card stock
A package of sponges, for all the cleaning after the cooking A package of brillo, for all the cleaning...
A package of paper plates A package of plastic forks, spoons, knives A package of napkins
A bundle of paper towels A bundle of toilet paper
A box of his favorite cookies, if he likes cookies
Some tee shirts
Maybe a three layer cake to celebrate his 30th??
My friend just turned 30, and I bought her Oil of Olay Age Defying cleansing face towels .. they come in a box of 30 .. okay, maybe not something a guy would like .. but it could be pretty funny?

Re: Help with DH's 30th Birthday
Still trying to come up with more ideas...
How about some packages of microwavable popcorn to go along with the DVDs for the DVD player?
You should definitely take a look at linens n' things .. they have some cool stuff there .. and take a slow walk through the supermarket aisles .. maybe make sure to hit one of the really big, nicely done supermarkets for best selection .. I really like the King Kullen on Sunrise Highway, where the old Gardiner Manor Mall used to be in Bay Shore .. they have things there I just can't find anywhere else.
Some more specific ideas:
A set of mixing bowls? A cocktail bar set? Wine / Champagne stoppers? Salt & pepper shakers? A fondue set? A soup set (pot and mugs)
If he likes 'em: (find the numbers you need when selecting) A bunch of bananas A bunch of fresh, on-the-vine tomatoes A sack of potatoes A bundle of scallions A container of mushrooms A bag of onions A bundle of carrots etc.

A baker's dozen (13) of donuts or bagels Lotto tickets and / or scratch-off games A bundle of flowers (who says guys can't get flowers??)
Radio Shack sells a 20-second digital recording pen (got it for $9.99 and gave some as Christmas presents)
A subscription to a magazine
How about getting a collage frame and inserting some of your favorite photos from throughout the years?? Maybe leave one space open to insert a photo from his b-day party.
